The scanner works well enough but the software is not very good nor easy. It took a while to discover and locate and use the OCR function. Saving a scan is too complicated, and printing the scan is also not simple.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Still to early to write a complete review, but the scanning software is primitive. Crops negatives and pictures whether you want it or not.

Don't buy for Mac OX10.8

Impossible to install. No clear directions and in no way installs in the simple Mac tradition.
After 4 hrs attempting to get it to communicate with my Mac, ready to throw out the window.

Poor Instructions

I read lots of reviews for this product before purchasing, so I thought it would be relatively easy to use. Actually, connecting it and pluggin it in were OK. The instructions for installation of program did not at all represent what happened on screen. It was just by luck that I figured out how to download the program. Then, the download from the disk didn't work very well. The program quit unexpectedly, so I had to start over. The instruction also said just put on a picture and scan. Wrong! The basic scan gave a very low-res photo, hardly useable for printing. Also the format in which it appeared on my computer was not useable in iPhoto. Again, just by chance, I figured out how to get the resolution higher and put it in a format that I could use in iPhoto. It took lots of steps, and I have been working on this for nearly 2 hours, and I still need to read tons more in the guide. Now, the guide has link upon link upon link, so it is nearly impossible to find an appropriate starting point. It's very confusing. Yikes! This scanner may end up working just wonderfully, but the "easy set up" is anything but easy and is not accurate enough to make this easy to use. I didn't want to recommend or not recommend, but this site required a choice. I said "no" because of the confusing instructions. One other frustration is that I was scanning a black and white photo. If I clicked that, it came out really burned. I then labeled it as "color," and it worked. Why??? Finally, in the package, a DVD called "Adobe Photoshop Elements 10" was included, but there was not one word about its use on the instructions for setting it up. How would an inexperienced person understand if that disc was necessary for the basic use of this equipment.?

Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner

This is my first purchase of a scanner specifically for photos and I wanted to get one that would also do 35mm slides. I researched scanners online and decided on this one and I'm glad I did. It does an excellent job of scanning multiple photos at one time and up to 4 slides at one time. The quality is outstanding and I love the software that comes with it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Have only had a this scanner a little over a week but have done a lot of photos on it in a short time and very happy with it. Easy set up.
