I'm not an American Idol fan and never saw Adam Lambert perform prior to the Music Awards show. I thought his performance was over the top and not in a good way. I was not a big fan. THEN I saw him perform on Ellen DeGeneras' show and was amazed. I enjoyed his performance so much that I bought this CD. I was not disappointed. In fact I am truly impressed with Adam's vocal strength. His ballards were especially a surprise as I had never heard him sing ballards before. You can really appreciate the fact that he is a "Broadway" talent and I can just imagine how good he was in "Wicked". I don't think any one will be disappointed with this CD.
What's great about it: A real mix of rock and ballads
What's not so great: Some of the "screaming" I can do without

Mostly dancey-disco type music.
Attempt to sound modern made the voice sound tinny and processed in 8 of the 14 tracks. Moreover the volume of the instruments and drums sometimes overpower the beautiful voice that has earned a lot of fans.
4 tracks in my opinion sound good to very good when played in a home system.
A keeper but not ground-breaking.
What's great about it: mixture of different music genre
What's not so great: a lot of voice processing and excessive intrumentation, bad cover

One of the most anticipated albums of the year, Lambert delivers exactly what he promised; a fusion of pop, rock, glam, dance, and techno with a couple of great power ballads mixed in. Vocally, he is in tip-top shape. This album is sassy, sweet, sexy and just plain fun... all the way through. The quirky club/dance numbers make me move to the beat even when I'm sitting down and the slower, more emotional songs make me cry. No clunkers here, folks! When I first heard the 30 second snippets of the songs, I was concerned that I wouldn't like it. You really have to hear the full songs to enable you to determine if it it's your thing as the snippets do it no justice. I was pleasantly surprised that an album this good was created in less than six months with a good deal of the recording process taking place during a summer tour. Of course, Lambert had some powerhouse writers and producers, like Max Martin, Lady Gaga, Pink, and Matthew Bellamy lend their talents to the project and those influences are unmistakeable. After listening to all the tracks several times, I have to say that Lambert deserves all the acclaim he is receiving from listeners and critics alike.
Favorite tracks: Music Again, Fever, Sleepwalker, What Do You Want From Me?, A Loaded Smile, For Your Entertainment, Broken Open, Strut (but I really love them all!)
What's great about it: Eclectic collection of different styles, moods and genres

Adam breaks the AI mold with this album, but then he was always unique on that program. He has an incredible vocal range and, if you don't like the dance and rock numbers, has included three "mad world" beautiful ballads. You can really dance to these---even the Argentine Tango (try it with Broken Open) or pop it in your car player and roll on down the road--it will keep you awake, but try not to speed.
What's great about it: Very upbeat with a few beautiful ballads thrown in. Adam's incredible voice.
What's not so great: not much--a few overdone electronic effects

I have loved Adam's music since American Idol I think this album is awesome, it has different styles of music on it. I like that he is not afraid to go outside the box and he does this so well. I love him and his music he rox it out like no one else.
What's great about it: the different types of songs are just awesome
What's not so great: there is nothing wrong at all with this cd

Great lyrics and music. The best album since the '70's. I haven't seen this kind of creativity and great sound in decades!
I just want to say that when I first listened to Adam's album, I didn't hear rock and roll because I was listening for the old-fashioned stuff. I listened again, and now I can't NOT hear rock and roll and I LOVE the new sound. It's a fresh, new sound that actually makes the old-fashioned rock and roll sound, well, old-fashioned. (and I was a real Seger fan!) I keep listening to the album because it makes me feel good and I LOVE the sound. I LOVE the music. It's so creative and fantastic that I can listen again and again and still want more. It's so good and so different that I really think this sound will be the future/current genre of R&R.
I haven't loved almost every song on an album since Fleetwood Mac's Rumours.
The ballads are beautiful, too. "Soaked" is unbelievably beautiful. His voice sounds like a cross between Freddie Mercury and the singer I heard singing the lead at the Phantom of the Opera. Beautiful, like rock opera ballad. He changes up the tempo on the second verse. Just beautiful, beautiful sound. Great lyrics.
I can't listen to "Broken Open" enough. It is such a healing song. So beautiful. Spirtually healing.
"Fever" starts off like a pop song but then turns into a hard rock song at the chorus. Makes you sing and dance your heart out. He changes it up, like he does all his songs. So creative and fun.
"Sure Fire Winners", Music Again", "If I had You", and "Strut" are great rock songs with a nod to the 70's rock but also a current, unique sound. Nothing like it. Sure Fire Winners is rock, but man, it makes you want to dance! Love it!!! Catchy, Catchy. Can't listen to it enough. "If I Had You" makes you rock and dance. So unique! The music changes up- nothing boring about any of this music. Amazing!!!
"Pick You Up" makes you want to dance- has a harder rock chorus. Unique, fun.
"Strut" is just amazing. Rock and roll. So different. Great, great, unique.
"Time For Miracles" the movie soundtrack, is a classic rock song with beautiful vocals.
"Sleepwalker" nods to classic rock, and it too, has a fresh current sound. It's beautiful! Very cool!
"Loaded Smile" is a dreamy ballad about conflicting thoughts and feelings as a beautiful relationship perhaps coming to the end of its time. The sound, again, is unique.
"What do you want from me" is a rock/pop/ballad. Just beautiful and heart felt.
"For Your Entertainment" is a pop song. The lyrics have double meaning. One describes the relationship between performer and audience- Adam commanded and mesmerized his audiences on his AI tour.
Enjoying this like crazy. Listening to this album over and over and over. He's number one in my book of music out there. Right up with the other greats- Freddie, Queen.
And this is his FIRST album?!
THANK YOU, Adam!!!
What's great about it: Unique, powerful, eclectic mix of genres and sounds

I am not very into Idol but this year one contestant made me take notice and that was Adam Lambert. I loved his insane vocals and loved his stage presence and charisma. I am pleased to say that this album has far exceeded my expectations. The music is fun and sassy and the perfect thing to listen to before going out on a Friday night. Would definitely buy this again!
What's great about it: Fun pop music, a lot very different from what's on the radio
What's not so great: That the iTunes bonus tracks aren't on the standard album
