Limited lifespan of ECM 160

This is my third machine. It lasted only 4 months because of leaks around the portafilter. That is the same problem the first two machines had. Very poor quality gasket seal at the basket.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

You get what you paid. The froth does not work well. It thin down the milk instead of making the froth

You get what you pay for

I feel that this is a good product for those who make maybe one or two cups a day, but will not hold up to heavier use, eight to ten cups. My problem has been that the seals eventually fail and pressure no longer builds correctly. It then takes ten minutes or more to brew a full carafe. I'm on my third machine in four years, (it's cheap to replace and does make a good brew). I am looking at "better" more expensive machines that will last much longer, though.

when i first got it i followed all the instructions on clean up and setup because i was very excited and didnt want to mess it up or break it by accident. however, from the very beginning (the first cup) there was some burn rubber smell already like most of the reviews said but i ignored it and hope everything was fine. BIG mistake!!! when i make 2 cups in a row during the second cup the machine exploded and the grounded coffee beans scattered everywhere in my kitchen. don't buy this unless you are willing to spend a day on cleaning up your kitchen.

DON'T BUY!!!! The Filter Handle WILL BREAK!

I bought this a few months ago and the Espresso Filter Handle broke. They don't sell a replacement part for it but rather a part for an old machine and it doesn't fit this machine. Waste of money. DON'T BUY IT. It will eventually break.

My son gave me this Expresso Maker for Mother's Day of this year. The handle just fell apart in my hands one. It hasn't even been a year. Very dissatisfied customer.
