Not the same quality it used to have

I've had this machine for 6 years now, and would give it 5 stars. But we recently got a new one for a wedding gift, and it leaked like crazy from the filter, pouring water all over the place. I made sure I packed the coffee appropriately and tightened everything enough (just like my old machine) but it still leaked a lot. So we exchanged it for a new one. Unfortunately, that one leaks too! I guess I'll be going back to my old machine. Not cool, Mr. Coffee. Not cool.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The shape of the control & water knobs are useless

I bought the ECM160 4 days ago and set it up to use last night. I noticed right away that the knobs were very unusual shape. When I went to use the machine this morning it became quite obvious that the shape of the knobs make this espresso machine totally useless. I can't even imagine any manufacturer doing this when there was no reason whatsoever to not make them round, hex shaped, knurled, or anything but the way they made them smooth, sloped, and convexed so you can't grab hold of them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Loving my third Mr. Coffee espresso machine

I have just purchased my third Mr. Coffee Espresso maker but had to purchase it at a yard sale. I went to every store that sold small appliances and could not find one. I didn't give up. What I purchased may be an older model as the cover is the large one that I like. I do not like the smaller curved water receptacle as I have arthritic thumbs and found it difficult to maneuver.
I give it four stars as each of the others I purchased new and they only lived avout six years. I would like them to last longer. Also, keep the larger deeply ridged knobs and covers.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cheap plastic ruins great product

Yes, our decanter's handle broke within 4 months of use. We actually use it every other day, and it felt like the handle was loose right when we opened it... but I thought that was just my husband worrying unnecessarily. Turns out, the black plastic nut holding the metal screw (in the handle) that in turn held the metal band around the glass decanter was made of a cheap, very brittle plastic. The rest of the machine is well made... but this is a very important part. A little redesigning would make the quality of this product much better.
Also, I find it offensive that you ask for the gender of a person making a comment, and that you only offer two genders.

BIG DISAPOINTMENT: INTERIOR CORROSION

I bought this today and when trying to prepare it for my first use I found that the interior aluminum chamber is corroded, plus the underside of the pressure cap has white specks of corroded aluminum particles on the plastic.

Uneven Results

I have had this for 3 weeks now and it still has a distinct metallic taste to the coffee. I tried cleaning it thoroughly and even brewed a weak vinegar solution, but the nasty taste persists. If I brew a strong enough coffee (fresh ground) the taste is bearable. If I try something lighter, like a hazelnut or vanilla, it is undrinkable. If anyone has overcome this issue, I would appreciate if they would tell me how.

Espresso with a metallic taste is definitely unbearable! We generally advise the following steps for deliming to rid any non-coffee related tastes that can be found on pgs 10-11 of your owners manual.
