Tastes gross, it's an over priced coffee maker

I have followed the directions in the manual- including cleaning it out. I have tried multiple grains of bean, i have tried different brands. The problem seems to stem from the pressure/heat. Where espresso is thick (when packing the beans properly) this stuff comes out like coffee, no matter how I pack it.
It tastes like coffee except bitter and gross. I have used this machine over 20 times, and purchased it two days ago (yes I drink a lot of espresso haha) I have tried giving it a chance, but it is horrible compared to other products by mr coffee.
I am going to try and return this model (purchased sandy oregon fred meyer), but first I want to warn people, spend the extra 30 bucks and get a refurbished espresso machine that works =| I do not know if mr coffee's other espresso machines are good, but even the youtube reviews of this show me that I made a bad choice. I have seriously have had better coffee while deployed cooking out of the cheapo coffee makers
My action after this review will to be contacting customer service and see if maybe they have a better suggestion to alleviate this upsetting purchase I made, and perhaps keep my Dollar with a mr coffee, otherwise Saeco Poemia (my friend has one, don't know the name of the model) will work just fine and is worth my 20-30 more dollars.
The steamer sometimes is amazing, othertimes it is shooting everywhere and making a mess.

Do not buy

Very weak coffee maker. Not worth spending the $40. Not only coffee is weak, the steamer/froth maker is weak as well. And right at 2 months after I bought it, the brew/steam valve on the left broke off. Very weak product.

So far.. Disappointed!

I bought this machine a month ago and had to return it after one use for an exchange and this 2nd one is doing the same thing! I made my coffee, then turn the dial off, then place my cup of milk under the frother, turn the dial to steamer icon and all I get is a bunch of noise and then the thing sucks up my milk!! Both units have done this to me. I don't get it. I've followed all the instructions to make an Cappuccino and it's fine until I get to the frothing point and as I've said, it makes a bunch of noise, a few bubbles and then it sucks up my milk!
I'm at the point where, unless I get some real suggestions and answers here, I guess I'll return this 2nd one and get my money back - give up on it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

For $40 I shouldn't have expected much but worth a try. It does not make espresso coffee; just a plastic tasting cup of coffee. No crema either. Just pay for the real thing which will run you several hundred but this machine isn't worth having as it isn't drinkable.

Frothing aid doesn't work

I just got this machine in today and couldn't wait to try it out! I carefully read the instructions (twice) and began. The espresso brewed quickly which was nice and the machine was surprisingly easy to use. However, when I turned the setting to steam to steam my milk, nothing. I tried several different approaches, all while reading the manual again, and still nothing. It did do one little "poof" of steam, but nothing else! This is so disappointing because other than this, it seems to be a great product for the price!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fragile!

I have only used it twice and the glass carafe is already cracked! Now it's useless as the coffee will slowly leak out of the carafe as it is brewing.
Is this the quality of product normal for Mr. Coffee? Can I expect a complimentary replacement or should I return the product to the store?
