Cools outbuilding well - need better drain info

I bought this system last summer to keep an 400 sq ft outbuilding cool enough to keep our chest freezer and beer brewing / wine storage happy. The building has casement windows, which make a standard window AC unusable. Setting up the exhaust was pretty straightforward, using the supplied window slider kit, attached at the bottom of a 1/2" piece of blueboard which replaces the screen on the casement window. When the compressor runs, the air is cold and easily cools the room. I have to leave a second window cracked open to provide intake air for the system to exhaust. Unlike some other reviewers, I have had no issues with the connecting and disconnecting the exhaust system.
My confusion is around the drain. I don't understand why there are two separate drains, and the manual doesn't do a good job explaining it. Although the manual says the upper drain is for the Dry mode, water seems to come out of it during the Cool cycle as well. The drain tube must slope downward - any water held in the tube seems to prevent the compressor from running.
The thermostat seems a bit off - after turning on the system, the compressor will start up at the target temperature, but after running awhile the room temperature will creep up above the target by several degrees and I have to decrease the temperature setting below the target temperature in order for the compressor to start.

I hate this air conditioner

Too heavy to move
Too difficult to attach the vent tube as needed for cooling
Frustrating to set up for cooling
Tube always popping out of one connector end or another - needs constant monitoring
Tube gets very, very hot, so needs to cool before re-connecting after it pops off
Did I mention, frustrating?
It cools very well once I've sweated through the set-up, if I've managed to be successful - this year I just gave up in frustration: no sonner do I get one end of the tube connected correctly when the other end pops off!!
The tube doesn't simply "screw" on to the connectors as stated in the manual. Big pain in the neck!!!!

Purchased one day ago, this product so far is "iffy". We had difficulty with the vent hose attachments. Vent hose is very inflexible and cheaply made. The first night we ran it all night and woke to find the vent hose laying on the floor and hot air blowing into the room. Managed to re-attach the vent hose and so far, it's cooling. Just want to warn you that installation is not as simple as claimed and quality of vent parts is not very good.

Hello Chezjude! Thank you for posting your concerns with your Frigidaire portable air conditioner. Your hose can be extended from its original length of 15" up to 55", but it is the best to keep the length to minimum required. Also make sure that the hose does not have any sharp bends or sags. If you have any additional questions, please contact us directly. Kind Regards

A real review

Ok... I live in a converted basement bachelor pad. It gets unbearably hot in the summer. I had tried a conventional air conditioner, but due to the inability of the basement windows to allow in enough air to keep the AC cool, that was a nono. I started looking for alternatives and came up with the portable ACs as a possible solution. I can tell you that I heard all of the knocks against it and nearly said I would pass, but one day I was in Best Buy and noticed this model, which I had just researched in some magazine. I asked all my routine questions and the guy was ok with his description, but he wasn't convincing me. A stock guy came through and noticed me debating on whether to get it. He walked over and said, "Yeah... this is it. This thing gets so cold, you'll turn it off." I asked him about noise and he walked me over to a different department. He said, "Let me plug it up and you can see for yourself." I had to stop him because the air felt sort of cold. "Shoot, it is on already, isn't it," I said. He looked and said, "You're absolutely correct!" I was hooked. I got it home... set-up was a breeze. You could only hear it if you are sitting by it and even then its not a nuisance. And you want to talk about cold... too often I had to turn it down AND close my bedroom door, because it would get viciously frosted in the apartment. My place has 4 rooms; the kitchen and dining room are open and overlap taken up spaces of 20' x 11' and 26' x 10'. My bedroom is separated by a door and about 30' x 16' and my studio, which can only be entered by going through my bedroom, is 15' x 8'. In every room you feel the AC's impact. The duct system for it was well designed and is easy to install. I really am happy I decided to get this unit and have talked 3 other peope to get the same model.

I had a window Fridaire that was awsome and it would cool 2 rooms it had 12, ooo BTU's, this 9000 BTU can't cool my bedroom and it's noisey.
I regret getting it I was going to return it and my brother said he would help me pay for it and he hasn't. I am so disappointed at this product. One can't sleep because it's too loud.

Great Portable AC Unit

It works great and has a good amount of features. Design is good, has a slot for remote so you don't loose it. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't come with a drain hose, to take out the water. But still definitely would recommend.
