A decade of wisecracking sequels have not diminished the power of this striking horror film from the director of Scream. Teenagers in a small town are dropping like flies, apparently in the grip of mass hysteria causing their suicides. A cop's daughter (Heather Langenkamp) traces the cause to child molester Fred Krueger (Robert Englund), who was burned alive by angry parents many years before. Krueger has now come back in the dreams of his killers' children, claiming their lives as his revenge. The teenaged leads are sympathetic and intelligent, unlike the dumb victims presented in most films of the period, and they are ably backed up by veterans like John Saxon and Ronee Blakley. Director Wes Craven creates moments of real dread by examining the line between nightmares and reality, as well as the "sins of the parents" theme, and although the film is quite gory, it never resorts to cheap bloodletting for its effect. They did a nice job on this movie. The restoration is amazing. Great features too. Must buy.

What's great about it: Picture sound and the special features
What's not so great: No movie ticket to the new and upcoming remake.
Everything was great, until I noticed there is no movie ticket. Besides the intial plastic on the outside of the film, there was no secuirty plastic stickers on the edges of the box. I checked everyone at the store and they were all the same. Ill be returing there tommorw to straigten things up. But besides that this is a perfect transfer with a solid picture and plunty of goods for the pass time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

" It's super freddy! " ah ha ha ha ... No but seriously NOES is one of the best horror films ever made, it saved a genre that was suffering big time! Classic movie what else is there to say ! (and yes i know that freddy saying is from the 5th NOES)

Trust me you can not and will not go wrong once you see this movie re-mastered and re-stored in 1080 a friend of mine has it he bought on off of amazon and it was amazing so i am def. going to get a copy of this !

Well i picked this copy up in Canada since it came out there such a long time ago but only for a short amount of time and i paid close to 100$ for a copy since it was OOP and rare. And now it is coming out here in the US and now i feel like an idiot :P ! but who cares the only thing i would change is there is not to many extras on the blu ray just basically the film i would have to say. But i dont buy movies for extras .
I would recommend this to a friend!

I would highly recommend to purchase this movie i live close to canada and was able to pick up a copy while i was up there! And what a difference, A+. Robert Englund is a great actor !
