Buy the extended warranty

We've had this appliance for one year this month and were very pleased with it like all the LG appliances we bought when we had our kitchen redone a year ago. Then things went very bad very quickly. A week ago we used the self clean cycle and the next time we used the stove I noticed that several of the burner knobs had the finish distorted on the bottom portion, apparently from the heat of the cleaning cycle exiting the door vent directly below the knobs. Our neighbors have the exact same range and we mentioned this to them when we had them to dinner and they said theirs had done the same thing. They also mentioned that the ceramic coating inside their oven had cracked. I checked ours and sure enough there were cracks in the bottom of the oven liner.
I had noticed also that after using the stove for several months that the burner controls we're getting loose and wobbly and felt like something you'd find on a low end appliance. So it seems like this range has all the surface appearance and features that you pay for but with very little use shows some very disturbing signs of poor build quality.
The serviceman is coming tomorrow so I'll update you after this visit.

DO NOT USE ALUMINUM LINERS

We used an aluminum foil type oven liner and it melted to the bottom of the oven! Just a warning to new users...it IS in owner's manual assuming that you read it unlike me! :(
Pros: warnings

Good, but one significant flaw

This is a nice stovetop/range in all respects save one. The broiler is, for some reason, profoundly underpowered. Therefore, your satisfaction will depend on what kind of food you cook. If you're someone who, for example, makes their own pizza frequently, you're bound to be frustrated. It's not the worst thing in the world, but i can't help but feel that for the price this goes for, something as basic as the broiler shouldn't be an issue.

Great Stove!

Easy to use; Great looking in my kitchen. I always use the convection mode in the oven and every time I have; each dish turns out perfectly.
The top portion is easy to keep clean but I am careful to remove any spills as soon as I can to minimize the time it can setup and be harder to remove later.
I had to make a minor service call. One of the burners would go all the way off when turned to it's lowest setting. The repairman said he loved working on this brand because they were so easy to adjust and very well made.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

Nice unit.

Ok, so it has pretty blue interior..but can it cook? Yes, and does pretty well at that. burners are quick & even. Griddle is a little slow to heat up. Electronics and warnings are all convenient. Convection processing is new to me and seems to really speed up cooking. Also, it adjusts well for higher altitude. Only knock is the top is hard to clean. Don't fry bacon without a splatter shield or you will spend a half hour cleaning up. (Use a spray citrus cleaner to make it easier).
In use 2 months and no gotcha's yet. Nice unit.

Best range I have used, I am a picky cook and this range works as promised. The burners are hot and well controlled with the valves. I can have four skillets on the stove top at once if needed. Oven has worked well and gets to the temperature fast and accurately.

Poor quality construction.

The front left burner does not produce an even flame and therefore cooks unevenly. Two service visits and three parts replacements has not resolved the problem.

Chefs will love this

Beautiful range; looks like the professional ranges you see in gourmet magazines. Big surprise - the interior is cobalt blue! Convection a plus. Each burner has it's own BTU rating; great way to control heat requirements. Super burner for large pots or quick boil and simmer really does simmer-no heat shield needed as with other ranges. Oven large heats evenly and broiling burner placement with 4 rows of flame instead of 2 makes for a more even broil. Center grill fits well and still have space for pots but gets in the way of anything more than a 10" frypan. Grill takes longer to heat and would like higher BTU to cook; pancakes cooked but without browning. Miss having a light; space taken up by vent under control panel. Cleaning a bit more difficult than flat surface with burners above as I've have had on previous ranges. Have to get used to the "modern" cooktop. Timer "song" fun, but could be louder, hard to hear from more than two rooms away. Overall very pleased with purchase and can depend on LG quality and service. Like having manuals and instructions on-line; easier to find than one that came with range.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, Features/Settings, Quality, cobalt interior & bright light!
Cons: low btu on grill lack of light, low volume timer
