Great idea, but...

The wallet is almost impossible to open consistently. There is nothing that gives you leverage to slide the case open. The edges are also very sharp
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Seemed to have skipped the testing phase

I love the idea of having a small compartment in my phone for a few things. Unfortunately, this case came with a vault - the drawer is completely impenetrable.
There's nothing to grip onto, so forget trying to get a good handle on the drawer to slide it open. I finally got myself some packing tape and enough sheer force to yank the thing free! It was quite a workout, I assure you.
I suppose the phone case + vault combination is novel, but it's not what I ordered. Otterbox, make the darn thing accessible!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Life-Altering Product

Very few things you buy actually change the way you live - this one did for me, which is the only reason I would take the time to write a review...
The Commuter Wallet Case keeps me from worrying about whether or not my wallet is with me, and also keeps me from putting "loose" cash and / or cards in my pocket. I needed to replace my phone recently (from an iPhone 5 to an iPhone 6), and did not do so until I verified that they made this case for the new phone. Would have bought an inferior phone just to have the convenience of this case... People routinely compliment me on it as well.
Great job, Otterbox, you have made a "raving fan" out of me...

I have used Otter Box for past 15 and recommend it to all who will listen. Each time I upgrade my phone I purchase another OtterBox cover. Often I have dropped my phone and not worried about it being damaged since I have OtterBox. My choice is the Commuter case.

This is my second commuter case (new phone) and it truly does a great job protecting the phone while still being cute and not too bulky. I can fit my iPhone 6s in my back pocket still. This case has already protected my phone from numerous drops, a teething baby chewing on it, and even a tumble down a full flight of stairs (thanks to my toddler). Highly recommend!

Faulty wallet case, BUT excellent customer service

I just got my case today and I was having problems with opening the wallet part so I called customer service to ensure that it wasn't just me not doing it right. The lovely lady who helped assured me that the case should slide open easily. She was so kind and in a matter of minutes she had a new case sent out for me under the warranty. I forget her name but she was awesome. I love the case, but there was just this minor issue. 5 stars because I love the color, it feels super durable, the case is easy enough to put on and take off ,and the service was great

I'm a college student and I have to have my student ID on me at all times for signing into class and especially scanning into my dorm. This case was so convenient! I would especially recommend to anyone that has to use a magnetic scan card for work or school because it works straight through the case- you don't have to take out the card to scan. I have had several card cases and this was by far the best. The locking method is 100% secure, unlike some that I have had that slipped open. It does take some effort to slide open the card slot. I sure wish they made one for the 6s plus, though! I was super upset when I realized it wasn't available after upgrading my phone.

I've had an iPhone for many years and each time I need to upgrade phones, the dreaded search begins for a new case. I've had Speck, Tech21, Lifeproof, but nothing can come close to an Otterbox. The case fits my iPhone perfect, no bulk, can reach all buttons and ports with ease, and still light enough to put in my back pocket. Yes... Now I can carry my phone in my back pocket and not worry if it hits the ground because it is protected all the way around. If you want an affordable case, one that offers solid protection, look no further.... This is for you! I won't EVER buy another case when I upgrade my phone in the future.
