[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very pleased with this freezer. My last freezer was a chest style, it was always difficult to keep organized to find things. Love the upright design I can see and find everything! Energy use is reasonable.

Ideal family freezer

I bought this as my nuclear family was growing and my extended family was visiting and I urgently needed more freezer space. It turns out it's ideal for day to day living as a family when I want to cook extra meals in advance and buy in bulk. It's been reliable and efficient.

Loud. Runs a lot.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The freezer works well, but it is very loud. This is especially annoying because it runs a lot and is in my kitchen area. I have not noticed a reduction in electric bills since moving from two 22 ft. chest freezers to this one 14 ft. upright. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed even though I do like the upright format now that my hunter/gardener husband has died.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Yikes! AK Grandma, most new freezers are designed to save energy. These freezers are equipped with low energy consumption fans and compressors. The modern, high-efficiency compressors operate much faster than older models. These freezers will run most of the time and only stop when a defrost cycle is needed to thaw ice buildup. The compressor may have a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound. This and other normal operating sounds are addressed on page 13 of your Owner’s Manual. According to the energy guide, while your freezer is not energy star rated, the estimated yearly energy cost is $52 per year, depending on your utility rates and usage (based on a national average electricity cost of 12 cents per kWh).
