Awesome Epson Projector

I'm a 1st time Epson customer. I previously had an older DLP projector and needed to replace as it died. I was never an LCD fan for a projector. Well let me tell you, that I purchased the EPSON 5030UB and I could not be happier! It's everything others are raving about and more! The Black Levels are amazing as is the 1080P. It's loaded with features and it's THX! I'd definitely recommend. I've not had this projector quite a year and I'm waiting for Epson to introduce an affordable 4K as I will definitely be a return customer and purchase from them. GREAT company, warranty, etc.

The PowerLite Home Cinema 5030UB has excellent brightness much brighter than my old Panasonic projector. Also when in THX mode the calibration is very good only needing a small amount of adjustment. The projector is fairly large but is not that heavy. The Zoom and lens adjustments are easy but they are manual.
All in all I think this is an excellent projector for the home theater enthusiast.

Big Upgrade with a great picture

I bought an Epson 5030UB as an upgrade to my 10 year old Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080 projector. The latter served me faithfully over the years but it was finally time to upgrade.
I am very satisfied with the upgrade to the Epson 5030UB because it is so much brighter and overall better contrast and picture quality. Out of the box I found the picture to be totally acceptable to me in the THX mode. Checked the settings with my Spears & Munsil calibration Blu Ray disc and everything was set as it should be. Just needed to do some minor tweaks and small convergence adjustments. Once I did this everything was perfect. I am amazed how clear and bright the picture is compared to my old projector. It was well worth the price for the upgrade and couldn't be happier. Since I don't watch 3D, I cannot give you my opinion on it but considering how bright this projector is, I don't think there will be an issue. I placed different settings in memory for cable, blu ray, DVD and laser disk (yes, it still works today).
I would recommend to anyone who buys this to consider calibrating the picture like I did. I would be happy to share my settings to anyone who is having problems.

I bought this model because of the wireless option so I didn't have to run a usb cable from my receiver. After receiving the unit I found out that the wireless module has to be within 30'and in direct line of sight to the front of the projector. The 30' distance was no problem but my receiver and wireless module was more on the side of the projector and I had intermittent connectivity with the projector. So I had to run a usb cable after all.
The projector has an awesome picture and very easy to operate except that the on button on the remote control has to be pressed repeatedly to turn it on. After that it works flawlessly and is a great projector!

This is the real deal

Very crisp colors and black and whites. $1000 less than the 5040UB. Movie playback thru a high end blu ray player makes for great home theater. Definitely a good investment

This projector is fantastic - lens shifting finally permits utilization of the full width of the screen and resolution/picture quality is BEYOND AMAZING - color temps good - everything checks out. Just today submitted for lamp rebate which was the only KNOCK in customer reviews that I have read - so very good business for EPSON to offer a spare out of the gate. I think Epson knocked this one out of the park - 3 cheers folks!

I purchased a house with an old projector and wanted to upgrade to a newer model. After limited research and asking many friends I purchased the Epson unit and could not be more happy with this unit. I am not a "videophile" so don't understand what the specs mean but I know a great picture when I see one. Friends can't believe how good the picture is on my system. Epson did an awesome job with this unit!
