Love the projector, wish had a quick gaming mode

Love the projector quality. I play a lot of games on it, and I wish it was easier to switch from Fine to Fast, or it would let you program the setting into a memory slot. Long story short great value.
Only other downside, is I never got the free bulb request form for my purchase, and not sure where to locate.

Fantastic

I read many projector reviews, and saw a few in person, before deciding on the 5030UB. Simply put, the 5030UB is fantastic. I waited for years to buy a projector thinking the picture quality would not be very good but the 5030UB blows away most LCD and plasma TVs.
My 5030UB sits on a shelf about 8' off the floor and about 19' from my 120" Silver Ticket screen (also fantastic). I made only very minor adjustments to the picture settings. Dish looks great and Blu-rays look spectacular. My only 3D Blu-ray, Avatar, looks fabulous in 3D, just like it did in the theater. As for blacks, the 5030UB passes with flying colors. Sunshine (2007) takes place in deep space and is very dark. It is a great movie to test the 5030UB's black levels. The exterior shots of the spacecraft look fabulous with great contrast between the dimly lit ship and the blackness of space. Brightness and colors are also great.
Minor quibbles include fan noise and manual picture adjustment. These are very minor because I can't hear the fan at all with any sound playing and even in silent parts it is hardly noticeable (from 5-6' away). The manual adjustment to get the picture just right on the screen took about 10 minutes, but I was trying to get it exactly perfect (level, square, and filled in exactly to all the edges but not over).
The biggest downside is watching during the day. My theater is in a finished walkout basement room with indirect sunlight. Even with blinds closed, the picture is noticeably faded but still very watchable. I bought curtains to block out the exterior light and the picture quality improved substantially. This is minor as most of the time I watch it at night with lights out.
Pros:
Brightness
Color Accuracy
Black Level
Overall outstanding picture
Cons:
Fan noise (minor to not noticeable)
Manual lens adjustment (minor, and once you do it, it is done)
Price (though far better than higher-end models with only slightly better picture)

PowerLite is out of sight the 5030UB

This was not my first Epson projector. A few years ago I purchased the Epson Power Lite Home Cinema 1080. It is a great HD projector but I wanted more POP so I purchased an 85' 3D LCD TV last year. It had the best 3D image I had ever seen or so I thought. This year I purchased the 5030UB and was completely blown away by its out of sight amazing 3D image. Seriously, the 3D image is comparable to the IMAX movie theaters. I shoot my image on a 120' screen. The image has amazed and captivated all who have graces my humble home theater with their presents. In fact my guest never want to leave. Movie night has become movie marathon night 2, 3 titles and they still want more. Can seem to tire out my guests. Best electronic purchase to date. Pull the trigger on this one. You wont be sorry.

Great bang for the buck

I did a lot of research before I chose the Epson 5030ub projector for my home theater. Great blacks and contrast, easy to set up. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to watch movies in a dark room with top notch picture quality. Lag is a little high in Fine mode so not the best for video games and fan can be a bit loud in non-Eco mode, fortunately there is a Fast mode to reduce lag (slightly reduces PQ) and the Eco mode is quite bright and quieter. 4/5 out of 5. I recommend this product.

Great picture, delay start issue.

The picture of this projector is great and the 3D is very impressive. The only down side I can see so far is the projector has now developed an issue with starting. The fan will run at high speed and usually start within 2 minutes, however today it failed to start and I had to unplug it after it shut itself down. Initially the lamp would come on within 30 seconds of power on. The projector has less than 10 hours on it. There is a thread on AVS forum about this issue.

Simply the best in class

It is hard describe how good this projector is without sounding biased. As the review title says....It is simply the best in class. Here's why:
Contrast Ratio and Resolution are the two most important factors when judging a projector. The Epson 5030UB (Ultra Black) has an outstanding Contrast Ratio of 600,000:1 ensuring deep inky blacks, great shadow detail, and depth of field.
The 1080P Resolution supports the best Blu-ray has to offer. In the future 4K will be realistic, but for now it's over priced and has very limited media to enjoy.
Setup was fast and easy, and I was able to enjoy a fantastic THX picture right out of the box. A full set of calibration controls are available for those of you that like to tweak out every bit of performance.
The long lasting projection lamp has two levels including "Bright" at a spectacular 2,400 Lumens that I use for sports and “Eco” mode that is plenty if there is not a lot of ambient light. This mode also utilizes a whisper quiet fan motor.
For the money nothing else comes close to the spectacular picture it projects on my 100" diagonal Studiotek 1.3 screen. Bright vivid colors with realistic pure whites and blacks, make the picture pop off the screen. BTW, it comes with 2 pair of RF glasses for 3D fans.
Every once in a while there is a truly “special” piece of Home Theater equipment that combines outstanding performance at a reasonable price. This is it!
Best in class” really says it all. Treat yourself to a demo......you won't be disappointed.

Home theater

Had the 5030UB up & running for about 2 months. Very good picture, fan is barely audible. Installed with ceiling mount. Only negative is it is very difficult getting a square/level picture. Tried all the adjustments, including keystone, but can't seem to get the picture perfectly square in the screen frame. Possibly because it is hanging from the ceiling and not exactly in the center of the screen (which is recommended). Other than that, extremely happy with it.
