[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just got this from Dell. Silent? More noise than a dishwasher. Tried installing the software that came with it. Every install giving me error messages. This corrupted, that corrupted, file not found. EEch! Then I tried to skip one install, (unchecked) It still installed. Finally used System Restore to get rid of all this junk and found some free software online. Laptop refuses to acknowledge drive. Have to run discs manually.
Pros: Style/Design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought two of these to replace failing LaCie burners which were several years old. So far they have burned everything without any glitches or hiccups. They have been reliable, and I burn CDs and DVDs constantly. Great units.
