Failure to keep up with quality

Having used L series lenses, I know that the quality is beginning to degrade. 20 year old L vs. new? There is a marked difference. Be careful.

Images are never sharp and are very soft. I had heard good things about the 50 1.4 but I am very disappointed in the quality of image.
Cons: Semi-sharp images

I got this to mount on my Canon dslr and film cameras. While it does capture nice photos in dim light, it does have trouble focussing, which might be the camera's problem. It is a solid well built lens, that does mostly what I'd like.

Have to use a tripod

Images are blurry! No IS need to use a tripod to get decent images!. I returned the lens!

This produces a colorful sharp photo however is not as good as I expected in low light situations. With the large aperture (lower f stop) there is a very shallow DOF which may or may not be desirable.
