The water tank has a very musty smell and the water coming out taste musty. I empty the tank after each use and leave the cover open. I read several other reviews with the same issue.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry to hear this. We do recommend that the reservoir be removed one a week and cleaned. It can go in the top rack of the dishwasher (remember to turn the heated dry cycle off), or you can use a mild dish soap and wash it as you would your dishes. The power handle itself should be wiped down with a damp cloth. I love my waterpik. At first the sensation you get from the waterpik squirting water in your mouth is a learned feeling. The more you use it the more your mouth learns to not react to the sensation. Then you're on the golden road to awesome gums and a happy Dentist on your next visit.
My 8 year old "Water Pik" served me quite well and now purchasing a replacement. Very pleased with quality product simplicity and effectiveness. Great option of giving two tip sizes to select water pressure to gums/teeth. I love it! Dan-o
I like it, but when I got it home I realized I couldn't put the pik directly under the sink. I have to use a cup and pour water into it instead. Minor irritation but the pik does its job.
I would recommend this to a friend!
