My research of Waterpik products paid off. I have no regrets for purchasing the Waterpik Ultra. I like the pulse button on the handle, and I like having a storage lid for the reservoir. My teeth feel super clean. Because of my raves, a friend also bought the same item and has recommended it to a friend of hers.
I purchased the water pic several weeks ago. Started using it about 1 month ago and love it. My teeth and mouth feel very clean and my gum are very healthy now.
In the past ten years, I have had to purchase three waterpiks. I thought they would last longer, but what happens is that for the first year or so, the water comes out without any extraneous prompting. However, after some use, when I turn on the machine, I always have to push down on the top of the plastic container to get the water to begin flowing out of the pik. This is very annoying because it takes extra time and I think this should not happen. I have rinsed it out with hydrogen peroxide in case there would be a build-up of something inside the tubing, but even that does not get the water flowing. I wish some engineer could design a better model so that the water AlWAYs flows automatically.
I bought this because I had one part of my mouth that was sore often. My dentist checked it and sent me to a periodontist. Neither found a dental issue - no decay or infection. I bought the Waterpik and added that to my routine. I was surprised that even after brushing and flossing it still finds little particles. The soreness has gone away from that part of my mouth. I think little things like pieces of popcorn hulls were getting caught and causing gum inflammation. I set the dial for more than a gum massage but less than it's full power - it's nice but effective. I am happy with the result.
Have been using for about a month now...it took some getting used to, the mirror has been sprayed a few times when I forgot to pause it. Overall, I like it. Only complaint is that its noisey, can't use when family members are asleep.
My husband and I use our Waterpik every day. We're on our third one. My only suggestion would be to have the lowest settings to be a little softer. We have two teenage grandkids with braces who use the smaller appliance.
