Listen, I'm sorry to say that you won't be able to keep the phone because it's locked on Virgins network. As for your number you can call Verizon and ask about switching a phone number over {this process is called port a number} and they will have your answer in a couple of minutes.

Verizon used to have an inexpensive phone and service. I got one for my minor daughter for $25.00 and included a $10.00 service card. You get to choose your plan per call, per day or whatever in more convenient for you. I do not if they still carry these phones/services.

It all depends on your town. Most of the higher-end prepaid phones, have internal storage and have a slot of an SD card, but as for the service, you'll just have to see who has the best service in your town.

Now a days you could use probably any carrier, all of them have come out with no contract. It ranges from 30 to 65 dollars per month for your usage depending on minutes and data.

for eg. T mobile gets you unlimited talk, text and data for 55 including taxes(approx) similar for verizon etc

If you need cheaper options go for Simple Mobile. There's lot of options available. Get any new phone or old unlocked phone you have and get connected.

I have Verizon's prepaid service, but Straight Talk is a little better, if they have that in your town. Straight Talk doesn't have the greatest phones, but they do have unlimited everything for $45 a month, while Verizon is Unlimited Talk/Text and 500 MB of data.

Question

No contract or pre-paid?

Need a cell that I don't have a monthly charge but don't want the minutes to run out. I rarely need one. I've looked at pre-paid cards - they usually last 90 days and can't afford a monthly bill for something I'll use about once a month. Have no clue how these plans work.

In my opinion, t-mobile with Gold Rewards status is probably the best, followed by Tracfone (with TMFL). Once you have gold on the t-mobile account, you can just grab a $10 card and you're good for another year. Once you bank up a big balance, you should be golden as far as having an "emergency" phone goes. Tracfone is the next best thing. Once you bank up enough service days you can add a $20 card once every few months or nothing at all until you need to.

No monthly "service fees" and airtime cards are available at most gas stations and major stores. No credit/debit card needed.

I have used a tracfone for years. I spend $100 to $110 per year to keep it active, For that I get enough minutes for the occasions I need to use it. Their customer service could be better, but for the low price of the phones and the low cost to keep it activated, I would still recommend if it's a phone you won't use often.

You are looking for something that doesn't exist. However, p. repaid minutes will roll over if you add additional money before they expire. If you choose lower amounts to add, you can keep the cost very low. The problem is that if you don't use any minutes after a while you will end up with a very large balance. One of my friends deals with this by making donations to charity.

If you search around, you will be able to find some companies where the monthly cost ends up being very low. My personal experience is that you will find more opportunities than you currently believe in which the cell phone proves to be extremely useful.

The iOS 5 is the older systems program. The iOS 7 is the update. If you have an iphone 4 4s or 5, you can have either or without any problem. If you can't get the updates in your settings on your phone, then contact the company. Personally, I have the iOS 7 on iphone 4. I use to have the iOS 5 before I decided to get the upgrade.
