The iOS 5 is the older systems program. The iOS 7 is the update. If you have an iphone 4 4s or 5, you can have either or without any problem. If you can't get the updates in your settings on your phone, then contact the company. Personally, I have the iOS 7 on iphone 4. I use to have the iOS 5 before I decided to get the upgrade.

Straight Talk works with your phone, you only have to buy their SIM card and they have a $45 unlimited plan.

If you're going to buy a new iPhone you can go with Virgin Mobile, buy a Virgin Mobile iPhone and you can choose an unlimited plan for $55 but if you choose Auto-pay you get a $5 discount ($50)

Hi! Thanks for your question.

You can put a T-Mobile SIM into an unlocked phone, and use it on T-Mobile prepaid. They have unlimited plans starting at $50 a month on their prepaid side.

Question

Can I transfer minutes from one service provider to another?

I have a broken tracfone with 700 minutes left on it. It is my second tracfone, and seeing that they have been pretty unreliable, I would like to try another prepaid company. Could I transfer my tracfone minutes to a different prepaid provider, or will my minutes have to stay on the tracfone?

unfortunately, you CANNOT trnsfer your minutes onto another company because you already bought the minutes with Tracfone. You are left with two hard choices:
1) try to buy another phone with tracfone. Maybe call them and ask to talk to a manager and explain your issue with phone quality and who knows?.they might offer you a better phone for a good price rather than loose you as a customer to another company.

2) look into other companies, compare prices and accept loosing the 700 minutes by going with someone else.

Another option would be to get another tracfone( the most basic one) and once you use up the minutes, close it and go another company.

No, because you purchased the minutes from Tracfone, the company. If you want to switch to a different company you will have to buy their phone and their minutes.

Most of the prepaid carriers offer pay-as-you-go, with no monthly commitment. You add airtime to a prepaid account (using a prepaid airtime card or a debit/credit card) and the cost of calls, text, and data is deducted from that account. When it gets low, you 'top up' and add more money.

The problem is that the money in the prepaid account expires if not used. The more you put in, the longer it lasts before it expires.

from what i understand, AT&T go phone is your best bet. but the dollar amount does expire. 15$- 30 days 25-30$- 60 day's 50$- 6 months 100$- 1 year. all you have to buy is the phone.

Tracfones are minutes only they don't charge you a daily or monthly fee, but if you don't add minutes periodically they won't hold your number and you will have to reactivate the phone.

Resounding, YES!
Had both.
The Net 10 plan is the best and you can go back and forth from plan to plan ie. monthly or 10 cents per......
Never pay more than 10 cents per......
Great for kids too.
AND if you have Tracfone you CAN keep your phone number when you switch to Net 10..

net 10 is owned by tracphone...
neither company operates there own network, they are a MVNO and operate with different GSM and CDMA carriers (depending on the model phone you get)

net10 rates are cheaper and more straight forward than the tracfone rates. both carriers phones are pretty no-to-low frills but tracfone phones are slightly better models..

Tracfone actually owns the Net10 company as well as Straight Talk - they're just run as separate companies but are all owned by Tracfone. It depends on what you want to do with the phones, but the Samsung R355C by Net10 is a super nice phone for talking and texting, as the keys feel good and it gets good reception. Unfortunately, the web browsing from all the phones from the companies listed above really stinks as they use their own scaled down 1980's style web browser which is dirt slow and nearly useless. If web use is very important to you, you'd have to look maybe at a phone from Boost, Virgin Mobile, or AT&T Go which use 'real' web browsers (but cost more to use, except Virgin which now has a $25 a month plan).

Question

I am looking for a no-contract provider with unlimited talk, text and web to ANY NETWORK.

Boost is 'mobile to mobile', so is Verizon. I know Cricket for sure has unlimited calls to any network. Are there any others that provide the same service that are national? My sister had Cricket, though very reasonably priced, does have a very broad coverage area.

Hi! Thanks for your question.

At Best Buy Mobile we offer impartial informed advice. All the carrier's for prepaid have unlimited plans that make them all a great choice for someone. Verizon prepaid is $125 a month for unlimited everything. T-Mobile prepaid is $70 for unlimited everything. Every other carrier is under $60 a month for unlimited everything. Boost Mobile is unlimited talk text web, and the calling unlimited to every number, not just mobile. Their shrinkage can get you down to $35 a month, the lowest rate anywhere for unlimited everything.

That would depend on your usage pattern. Take a look at how you use your cell phone... how many minutes per month and how many text messages. Then look at the websites of the providers. Keep in mind their coverage in the area you will be using the phone. Even if the service is free, it does you no good if the phone has no service where you need to use it.

For me, the best combination of cost and service area has been Virgin Mobile, but that may not be the case for someone else.
