Question

What brand dishwasher runs for the shortest time to wash the dishes?

We have an LG dishwasher that has recently quit working and will be purchasing a new dishwasher. The LG took 2 hours to run a normal cycle and we want to get a dishwasher that takes MUCH less time to run! Which brand and model takes the least time to complete a normal cycle?

I just purchased a Bosch with a feature called EcoSense. As I understand it a sensor monitors the water and adjusts the time by the cleanliness of the water. After a month of use it seems to run for less than an hour, even though it starts out at 128 minutes.

The Whirlpool Quiet Partner II also takes about two hours to comoplete its wash cycle, but I've never seen dishes so clean! It also has a one-hour cycle that you can choose if you are in a hurry. It costs only $299 and does a MUCH better job than any other dishwasher I have ever used. Hope this helps.

I've tried a few, including the newer LGs, and have found that the washers that take longer (~2 hrs) clean much more thoroughly than quick washers (1 hr or less). The easiest way to test this is to eat a plate of rice, and then see how well the dishwasher cleans the plate using different models or cycle times. You'll notice that in most cases, the rice will be completely cleaned off the plate in just under 2 hours.

Yes you can! You have two installation options. You may either have the unit installed for $119.99 or, if you would like to do a garbage disposal along with it, it would be $189.99 plus the cost of the disposal.
As for delivery/installation time frames they do differ. If you are only purchasing a dishwasher then the installer will bring it out and you can perhaps have the delivery earlier, of course depending on the installers schedule. If you are buying other appliances, then the delivery team will bring the unit, according to zipcode, and the installation will take place the following day.

Unfortunately, the only way for us to get a hold of dishwasher parts is through our Geek Squad and it would require an agent to come to the home and order it.

To my best knowledge, they do not. However www.repairclinic.com does sell parts. I have used for several appliances with good service.

My Bosch Model: SHE55M15UC was made in U.S.A. and it isn't advertised as such, but the sticker on the side of the door where the model # is, says it was made in U.S.A. by U.S. and foreign parts

Bosch offers 3 models that would accept custom panels. SHV43P13, SHV65P03 and SHV68P03. Not sure the panel you have will be able to be used again though. The specs change and the style of dishwasher doors has changed too industry wide.

I would recommend a Bosch dishwasher. The higher end units come "panel ready" and are the equivalent, if not way better then a kitchenaid.

'Free' delivery may well be an offering of the seller. Lowes offers 'free' delivery and installation on SOME models, for example. Some mom and pop stores include this in the price of the machine and still others include this as an incentive to sell you something.

Best Buy does not currently include free installation with the purchase of any dishwasher. To purchase installation services, simply speak with an appliance specialist at your local Best Buy store or give us a call at 1-800-624-4434.

depends on model and newer appliances are getting better at energy efficiency. This particular model uses between 1.3-9.2 gallons of water depending on what cycle you choose with the normal cycle using approx. 4 gallons of water.

It all depends on the unit itself. Commercial units can clean an entire tray of Restaurant dishes in 90seconds with about 1.5 Gallons of water. Most home units run on average 5~8 Gallons a load.

The drain hose usually comes with the dishwasher and attaches to the sink disposal. Some installations will require an airgap on the drain hose to meet local plumbing codes. You also may need different plumbing fittings for the water supply line and some electrical connectors for the power depending if you are going into a plug or an electrical box.

Unless you have installed one or two dishwashers in your time, I highly recommend you get a professional installer or plumber to do it. I'm sure your local Best Buy store can recommend someone. You can watch him and then do the next one yourself.
