Asus sucks! I got the g71gx(bestbuy) about a year ago and wish I hadn't bought it. Screen flickering problem, speaker problem.

I own the Asus and can tell you it is a nightmare. Do not buy an Asus. Customer service stinks. I have been without my computer for 4 months with same problems everytime that they send it back. They won't replace it. Won't do anything but say a Technician needs to look at it. Bad experience. The Toshiba, my son has has been great, no problems. Runs hot though so buy a fan.

I would recommend avoiding that model because it only has a 2.0 Quad core. Most games only support Core 2 Duo. With that Quad you'd be limiting yourself to 2 cores running only at 2Ghz. Go for the other G72 Core to Duo at 2.53Ghz. It's also 149.99 cheaper. Good luck.

Question

Is a 2.20 duo processor enough?

I've found what i think is the perfect laptop for what i need. i know it can do everything ill need it to do except im not sure whether the processor is enough to support gaming. It comes with a Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T6600 (2.20GHz) and 2.2 seems a little small compared to most gaming laptops. is it big enough to play all games?

I think 2.2 isn't enough for future gaming. I recommed atleast a 2.5Ghz Core 2 Duo and a Nvidia Geforce GTX 260M. Good luck.

i7 only utilizes all the cores and hyperthreading when you have a game that is hogging up most of the resources that kick into effect, The corre 2 duo gives you higher clock speeds right out of the box, the i7 has a 1.6 ghz regular clock speed. The core 2 duo on the g72gx (if youre looking at the laptop machine) can be over clocked to 3ghz in the included software, apart from that what matters more than anything is the actual dedicated video card *not shared*

i7 is nice, and if I were to buy a machine now I might consider it. I think you will see more performance for less money with 4GB + MEM, and a good video card before you would see a gain in CPU upgrade.

g72gx from asus at best buy should be able to run that, 3ghz is just one process this is dual core so it has two of them, most games now utilize both so the requirement isnt as high, also with that the machine lets you click on a button and overclock it safely without it heating up up to 15% in the included software effectively running it at dual 3ghz. Read my review on there for further details.

answer 2
It does not require a 3GHz processor. The system specs say it needs a 2.4 GHz processor. It says 3GHz single core processor, but it is not a game that uses a lot of power, so you could actually use a 2.0 GHz processor or 1.8GHz, if you were going for cheap.

Question

What is the least expensive laptop that can play World of Warcraft?

I need a system that will really play World of Warcraft - not just have the game running, but be able to see the spell detail with a number of add-ons running at least 1280x1024. A big screen is somewhat important, but I am most concerned with the video capabilities of the system.

Your budget is going to determine that. Unless you are willing to shell out 3 grand there are going to be trade-offs.

Take a look at the ASUS G72GX, it's under a grand. I have one, and I absolutely love it.

As long as you have a wireless card in the new laptop you wont have to get a second line. Now do know that it will eat up some of the speed but will only be noticeable when he downloads music

any dual core or hyper threaded processor will be perfect for what she needs and uses her laptop for hard drive space is really the factor as she will need it for music storage! memory 2gig or more would be enough

She can just use your current ISP and work off it wirelessly or use a ethernet connection!
