Questions & Answers for Dynex™ 32" Class / 720p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV

Question

Changing channel causes HDMI resolution to appear.

Every time I change the channel the HDMI resolution box appears in the upper right corner of the screen. It stays there for about 15 seconds. There is no reason for this, i know the tv is 720p, it says so on the box :). Can I disable to function?

I haven't found a way to disable it, pressing the info button on the remote works. I wouldn't say it's 15 sec, more like 5. Anyway, the TV is capable of 1080i and 480p resolutions, and the info box displays that when applicable.

Question

Power indicator light on front of tv.

This Dynex 32" LCD HDTV tv is new. The power indicator light on the front of the tv stays on when the tv is off. When I turn the tv on the light goes off. Is that how it's designed? Why does the light stay on when the tv is off? Other tv indicator lights I've seen come on when you turn the tv on.

That light just indicates that the TV is in standby mode. It will use a little bit of electricity while in standby mode. For long periods of non use, you may want to unplug the set.

Question

Any special settings to make TV see Cable

I have a DX-32L152A11. It has good audio and video from DVD signals. When TV is selected, the screen says "No Signal". I checked the cable with another TV as well as a cable box and the other TV has shows good stations. Is there some other setting the TV needs to be set to in order to use the cable signal.

You have to go into the settings and scan the cable for digital and analog stations. It takes about 15 - 30 minutes. Once done, all the stations are available. You should do this periodically (every few months) as cable companies move stations around once in awhile.

For instructions on programming your remote control and codes, consult your remote owner's manual or contact your service provider. If Dynex is not listed, try codes for Orion, Emerson, Memorex, Sansui, Sylvania, or Zenith. Alternatively, you may use your universal remote's scan or learning feature to find a working code.

Possibly try different cables or whatever you have connected to it does not support resolution higher than 480i.

There is a firmware upgrade that is supposed to fix the channel auto-scan problem.

The link is:
http://www.dynexproducts.com/products/televisions/DX-32L150A11.html

Basically you download the appropriate firmware to an empty USB drive and plug it in to the "service port" in the unit and follow the instructions.

Hope this helps...

The energy efficient option just takes the back-lighting down to 50% as opposed to 100% like normal. I didn't see a great amount of degradation, but I also don't know "how much" energy is being saved.

Hoe this helps...
