Questions & Answers for Dynex™ 32" Class / 720p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV

Question

will a ps3 work on my tv

I have a Dynex 32"/720P/60Hz/lcd hdtv and am trying to connect a ps3. with a hdmi cable I get a not supported format notice on screen. with the video/audio cable that came with the ps3 I get nothing on either video 1 or 2. I have tried both hdmi 1 and 2 and have tried my blue ray player (it worked) and my computer through the dvi cable (it also works). When I connect the ps3 to my sony tv it works through the hdmi cable. Is there a way to make the ps3 work on my tv?

Make sure the cable is at least a HDMI 1.3.
If not then try a 1.3 cable and see if you still have connection issues.

Question

Changing channel causes HDMI resolution to appear.

Every time I change the channel the HDMI resolution box appears in the upper right corner of the screen. It stays there for about 15 seconds. There is no reason for this, i know the tv is 720p, it says so on the box :). Can I disable to function?

I haven't found a way to disable it, pressing the info button on the remote works. I wouldn't say it's 15 sec, more like 5. Anyway, the TV is capable of 1080i and 480p resolutions, and the info box displays that when applicable.

Detailed instructions for connecting a computer can be found in the owner's manual, page 9, downloadable at http://www.dynexproducts.com/produc.... You will need a VGA cable and a 3.5mm audio cable to complete the connections.

Dynex was Best Buy's first exclusive brand, so it has been around for many years. As to reliability, my 32" Dynex LCD TV has been extremely reliable and without issue for over three years.

I've noticed certain broadcasts will come through on 1080i, not 1080p. Not sure if there's a connection there.

Question

What is the response time for this TV?

You know, in milliseconds. It doesn't tell you this anywhere and, for gaming, this is vitally important.

The "Hz" tells you the refresh rate or the response time of the tv. This particular tv has a 60Hz refresh rate, therefore refreshing 60 times a second.

You can find instructions for connecting a home theater system in the owner's manual, downloadable at http://www.dynexproducts.com/produc... beginning on page 10. Alternatively, your home theater system's owner's manual should also include detailed instructions for connecting to your TV.

It sounds like one of two things if you have tried different outlets already. Is the tv power cord completely plugged in the back of the tv? If you move the tv around, there is a chance it could have loosened up.
The other thing that comes to mind is the internal power supply could have gone out for a number of reasons...best bet may be to contact Geek Squad or a private tv contractor and have them test it. Keep in mind how much you paid for the tv if you are going to try and get it fixed...it might make more sense to sell it as scrap and buy a new one....
Is it plugged into a surge bar? If so, try without it...surge bar could be bad too.

You need home mode. Make sure your game system is set properly for 720p resolution. With my XBOX360 I was able to put it on 1080, but since the TV technically doesn't support that resolution the images were very fuzzy. Also, if you're downgrading from 1080 to 720, your eyes will take a bit to adjust to the "fuzziness" but that will change.
