The screen can be locked by simply pushing the "Pause" (>||) button for 2 or 3 seconds.
It is released by "sliding up" which the screen will remind you if you forget.

It does not come with an external speaker, but can be accessorized with any external speaker system that operates on the standard mini-stereo plug.

Speaker should have its OWN power supply.

It does not come with an external speaker. The only way to listen without earphones is to connect it to something. I usually connect it to my stereo system's AV receiver. You can also listen if you connect it to your computer using the supplied USB connector.

Fuze+ comes with a micro USB cable for connecting to a computer for downloads. Same cable charges the Fuze+ from a computer or any USB connection.
A charger is available, but not included (and not necessary, since you need to connect to computer to load media, any way).

It comes with a USB cable. When you connect the cable to your computer, it charges the battery. I usually connect it to the same battery charger that came with my cell phone and then plug it into a wall outlet. I also have a "universal" charger that comes with different sized connectors which would be an option if the cell phone charger didn't fit.
