Dear Customer:

Your inquiry is regarding washer model GHW9300, however, the model the question is asked on the best buy website is WTW4800XQ. The washer you're inquiring GHW9300 has a Fabric Softener compartment in the dispenser. You will add 1/4 cup (60 mL) liquid fabric softener to this compartment.
Fabric softener will be automatically dispensed in the final rinse.

Hopefully this information is beneficial to you. Thank you for your inquiry regarding our Whirlpool appliances!

Dear Connie:

The model number you've submitted your question regarding is a Top Loading washer. If you are inquiring use of fabric softener in a front loading model please submit the question for the correct model and we can advise instructions on how to use fabric softener. However, liquid fabric softener does not hurt the washer if used appropriately.

Hopefully this information is beneficial to you. Thank you for your inquiry regarding our Whirlpool appliances!

Question

Horrible plastic smell

As soon as we removed our new washer from the carton we were hit with a strong chemical smell. We should have put the machine right back and carted it back to the store but figured the smell would fade away. Well it has been two weeks and it still smells terrible. I can hardly stand to go into the laundry room. This odor is triggering headaches and watery eyes and a sick feeling among family members. What is this smell and is it safe to breathe? We have bought many many washers over the years and never had one reek like this, just the normal 'new' smell which goes away in a couple of hours. Is this a known issue with this model?

It seems to do this separately. I notice cold water kicks in first once you press the start button. Not sure when warm water comes into the mix.

Dear Valued Customer:

Thank you for your inquriy regarding Whirlpool washer model WTW4800XQ.

The automatic temperature control system controls the water temperature for this model. This feature electronically senses and maintains a uniform water temperature by regulating incoming hot and cold water. Even in Cool wash, some warm water is let into the washer to maintain a minimum temperature of approximately 70 F (21C). The hot and cold water alternate as it enters the machine.

Yes it does have a normal agitator and it balances the clothes. It does have a lock but it is very easy to unlock whenever you want. Just push the button, it will stop and the unlock in a few seconds.
