Yes, you can download games from the GooglePlay Store and also from other Android stores like Amazon as long as you have the setting checked to allow you to download from third party sites.

The Google play store has a multitude of games that can be downloaded. The Amazon App store can also be installed, and they offer a free app every day. I have well over 500 apps (including 100+ games) I can install if wanted. The screen and hardware are top notch for playing games, and you will not be disappointed in this tablet.

Question

Need a computer?

I am looking for something to replace the iphone for what I use it for, not as a phone. The iphone requires itunes on my computer to update and download certain things. Will this device require a similar program on my computer? This will be my first tablet, I don't know a lot about them.

You can download Google Drive or DropBox and move apps and files between your computer and the Nexus 7. Additionally, you can attach the USB cable and transfer them. But in order to do that you'll need to download an app for your computer called Android File Transfer if you have a Mac. If you are running Windows then make sure you have the latest USB drivers downloaded on your computer. Once you've connected the tablet make sure you've checked media device and not camera in the pull down menu on the N7.

I would defiantly reccomend the Nexus 7. You don't need to sync it to your computer to update. It'll update on its own for you. I had only used apple products for a long time but this tablet blows the iPad out of the water.

Question

US Bank app?

One of the most important things I need this device to do is work with the US Bank App. Their site says it works for Androids. You can take a pic of a check with the phone and send it to them and they accept it as a deposit. Will it work with this device?

You can download the apps for Barnes & Noble and Kindle. Once you log into the apps you can store any of your existing library onto your nexus. No need to use the USB port. You can do that as well but may take longer.
