Questions & Answers for Frigidaire - 50-Pint Dehumidifier - White

Question

How much electricity does the unit use when just the fan is running?

You posted how many watts are used when the compressor is running, but the fan runs independently and sometimes just the fan is running for circulation. How many watts does just the fan use?
Thanks

Question

Frost Sensor

Is there a "frost sensor" with either the 50 pint or 70 pint models?. My current unit frosts up occassionally. It is in the basement and the temperature is 60 degrees of higher. I want to avoid the problem.

I've copied the below note out of the use and care manual for both units:

The unit is designed to operate between 41 °F (5 °C), and 96 °F(35 °C). The unit will not work
properly if the temperature is out of this temperature range, or the performance of the unit will
fall greatly.

You should not have any issues if your basement temperature stays around 60 degrees, as that is well within the temperature range for these units.

Question

How much heat does the unit throw off when the compressor is running

I have an old dehumidifier that throws off a lot of heat. That makes it uncomfortable to run during the summer in our finished basement (15' x 25'). How hot will this unit make the room?
Thanks

By the nature of how a dehumidifier works, they will all emit a certain amount of heat. However, new dehumidifiers are more effecient, and will run much cooler than older units.
