The UN40D6420 is a 2011 model TV. You can tell this by the "D" in the model number, which represents the 2011 model year.

Any DVD player can be connected. Make sure that you have the correct cables & connections. This unit supports HDMI, Component, and composite video. Composite video will not give a HD picture.

Great question! Regardless of the TV's technological profile, just about any device that offers HDMI, RCA, Component and even Optical connections will be compatible with the Samsung TVs. This means 3D and 2D BD players, standard DVD players, video game systems, and even older technology like VCRs will be compatible with the Samsung TVs.

No, it does not have built in wi-fi. You will need the 70 dollar plugin module (usb). I hooked mine up hard wired as I wanted to get the best possible streaming. I do have built in wifi on the Samsung 3D BlueRay player I purchased at the same time. So I am covered either way. that is an option, but you have to use the apps through the blueray then not the TV. It is redundant I admit, but I can always move that blueray player to a non smart TV.

I used my linkstick to access Smart TV apps., they work fine. Not sure why the Samsung website would say that. Wireless setup was easy.

I'm sorry for the confusion. The UN40D6420 is either compatible with the WIS09ABGN or it can use an ethernet cable to connect to a home network.

I had 38 1/2 inches to play with and I believe it measures 36 and change, so a perfect fit. I do not recall the height, but you can get that off the Samsung website. The bezel is tiny so you are getting all screen.

The UN40D6420 actually have a 1-tuner PiP system. PiP 1-tuner systems only allow for one cable connection to be shown at a time on the screen. In order to connect it up, you will need a hard line going into the TV (cable coax) and an active secondary connection (HDMI, component, PC). To activate it up, either head into the TV's menu or click the Tools button on the remote control.

Again, you will need both a coax connection and a secondary input connection in order to properly activate and view PiP on your set. If your option is grayed out, this means that one of the required connections is not active and connected properly.

Although the UN40D6420 is not the same as the UN40D6400, these two models will offer the same features. Additionally, the D6420 is the Best Buy exclusive model that offers a redesigned bezel.

I returned my 6400 because the Ethernet port died after 2 weeks. I upgraded to 6500 because the integrated WiFi in case the Ethernet port dies in the future. The only other difference is the 6400 has a tray load & the 6500 sucks the DVD in (like a Macintosh PC)

Some of the differences between the D6420 and the D6500 are:

1. The D6500 offers Skype connectivity and comes included with the QWERTY remote control, while the D6420 does not.

2. WiFi is built into the D6500, while the D6420 does not offer built in WiFi.
