Question

Does the blu-ray player provide full1080p up-conversion through HDMI cable of dvd playback?

I know the blu-ray player plays dvd videos, but what I want to know is whether it up-converts them to 1080p for playback. I'm just wanting to know how disappointing watching dvds are going to be (i.e. fuzzy) when watching with the new tv, blu-ray & sound system. (All Panasonic Viera).

Hi Doc, the Panasonic SC-BTT268 Blu-Ray Home Theater System is an ARC (Audio Return Channel) compliant model, and it has an HDMI port that is compatible with this feature. In order to make this work, your television should also have an ARC compatible HDMI input, so the audio signal will be sent back to the home theater.

The home theater system includes a 3D blu-ray player/amplifier combo. The amplifier portion must be used when trying to get sound from a TV to the home theater's speakers.

Yes, it will work. Connect the digital optical output of the cable box to the Digital Audio In (Optical) in on the TV using an optical cable. Then place the home theater in the digital input mode and you will hear up to 5.1 from your cable box.
