Questions & Answers for Samsung - 59" Class - Plasma - 1080p - 600Hz - Smart - 3D - HDTV

Question

ARC over HDMI Clarification

So if it does not offer ARC over HDMI can you still run all the audio through a receiver for your cable box, blue ray player, and xbox using HDMI cables only? (So for each item I would need an HDMI cable 1.4?)

Yes as long as your receiver has HDMI pass through...I currently have a blu ray player, cable box, and a wii running through my Denon AVR2112CI receiver. As I switch source inputs I get video and sound.

You can run all audio through your receiver. You would actually only run an HDMI from your Receiver to your TV as an output (all other devices would plug into your receiver).

In terms of ARC not being present, the only time this becomes a problem is if you are 1. Hooking your Cable/Satellite through this TV (instead you should hook up to receiver) or 2. Wanting to use the Smart Apps on the TV.

Either way, if you have to run something through your TV or want to use the smart apps and you don't want to use the built in speakers, you can always use the Optical audio output of the TV down to your receiver.

You will be able to connect all of your components to the TV, then by connecting the TV's audio output to the receiver's audio input, you should be able to hear all of the devices audio from the receiver. However, the following statement is in the manual: "When the TV is receiving a DTV signal, the TV will send 5.1 CH sound to the amplifier or DVD home theater. When the source is a digital component such as a DVD / Blu-ray player / cable box / STB (Set-Top-Box) satellite receiver and is connected to the TV via HDMI, only 2 CH audio will be heard from the amplifier or DVD home theater. If you want to hear 5.1 CH audio, connect the digital audio out jack from your DVD / Blu-ray player / cable box / STB satellite receiver directly to an amplifier or home theater."

Question

ARC over HDMI

Can I run the TV's audio through my receiver using just HDMI cables? Someone had told me that some Samsung's don't have ARC over HDMI.
