Yes, Samsung's new FX710BGS gas range can be converted for use with liquid propane. The LP conversion kit is included with the range, and Samsung recommends having it installed by a licensed professional.

The FX710 gas range was just launched this past month, so it isn't surprising that you don't see reviews posted just yet. As you may have noticed in the specifications, this model features a large, True Convection, 5.8 cubic foot capacity oven with 3 chrome racks, including one split rack to help accommodate large pots beneath it; a 5 burner cooktop with a dual 18,000 BTU power burner and a large oval burner for cooking with the included griddle or other over-size pots; continuous matte grates; a warming drawer, and many other convenient cooking features.

Thanks for the question. The FX710BGS will automatically adjust the temperature when Convection Bake is selected by lowering the set temperature by 25°F. The Convection function will not adjust the time, however, since many baked items require a certain amount of time to cook in order to rise or to set properly. If you wish to continue to use the higher temperature, you can either select Bake without the convection, or select Convection Bake and set the temperature 25°F higher than the recipe calls for since it will convert down by 25°F when you press Start. Keep in mind, however, that the items will likely cook faster than the recipe says.

Question

Is there a difference in how Convection works in the FX510BGS and the FX710BGS?

Is there a difference in how Convection works in the FX510BGS and the FX710BGS? From everything I have read - the FX510BGS is described as "Fan Convection" and the FX710BGS is described as "True Convection"? I am interested in purchasing one of these units and just want to understand the difference between the two.

710 has a heating element making this allegedly a "true" convection, 510 has no heating element just fan. See reviews about poor oven temperature before buying this range.

Thanks for the question. The FX510BGS features regular Convection to help circulate air throughout the oven cavity. The FX710BGS has True Convection, which means there is a heating element around the fan to provide an additional source of heat to be circulated by the convection fan.

Question

Does the FX510BGS have a warming drawer?

I'm getting conflicting information that only the FX710BGS has a warming drawer and the FX510BGS just a drawer. On the BEst Buy type they list Drawer Type and it says the FX510BGS just has a "storage" drawer. Please advice.

710 has warming drawer, 510 has only storage. That is why it is less expensive. See reviews about poor oven temperature before purchasing this product.

Question

Oven does not hold temp. Is this a design flaw???

I need to set temp in the regular & convection ovens a minimum of 50 degrees higher to reach desired setting. The oven will then shut off & go 100 degrees below set temp before restarting. The process keeps repeating as described. Is this a design flaw or did I get a lemon, which needs to be replaced???

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your range. It's normal for the convection bake setting to automatically convert the temperature by reducing it 25 degrees, but if you're setting the controls correctly and they're being lowered more than that and shutting off intermittently on its own, it may require service. Please call 888-BEST BUY or 800-SAMSUNG for assistance resolving this issue.

Thank you!

It's important to wipe up spills as they happen in order to prevent the cooktop from becoming dull. Certain types of foods high in acid or sugar will cause dullness if allowed to sit for too long. Samsung does recommend using soap and water to clean the burners and the cooktop, then wiping away excess soap and polishing with a clean, dry cloth. For more information, please refer to pages 57-60 of the user manual.

Question

The apartment I moved into has a Gas Samsung Oven and it seems to "turn off" all the time and not hold it temperature?

Unfortuntly I am in Korea and no instruction manual has been left (even if I could read it in English?)
The oven heats to a temperature, then appears to turn off the gas - dropping down 30 - 40 degrees and then beaps continually until it seems to go back to heating. It also has no timing component - I set the timer which just flashes continually and resets itself to 20 mintutes. I have never used an Gas oven that does these things! I did ask via the rental agency, who sent an Engineer that reported it was OK! Can anyone assist me or have I been given a dud oven??

Timer:

Push "Timer On/Off" button; input time; push "Timer On/Off" button again to start the timer.

Oven:

Push "Bake" input desired temperature; push "Start/Set" button. Note: if you push "Conv Bake" the oven will adjust temperature lower because the convection fan is used.

Thanks for the question. It isn't unusual for the oven to cycle on and off in order to maintain the set temperature, but if yours doesn't seem to be functioning correctly, please contact 800-SAMSUNG in the U.S. or Samsung's customer service team in the region where you're located for assistance. Models can vary by region and country, and you should be able to download a user manual from Samsung's website in your region.

Incidentally, in addition to the previous information provided with regard to the plastic membrane covering on the control panel, I would be remiss if I didn't also suggest that if you were to experience an issue with this or other parts, you should contact Best Buy or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine the appropriate remedy.

Thank you,

Thanks for the question. The control panel on the FX710 has a plastic membrane covering it; the membrane is durable and designed to maintain its appearance when used and maintained properly. Like other types of surfaces, however, it could become damaged if instructions are not followed.
