Did you check My Computer after you inserted the card reader? XP Pro just recognized the drive, so did my Vista Home laptop. There was no installation. It was just there listed as a drive letter. Try again maybe?

Same thing happened to me. Windows 7 couldn't find the driver. Tried on Windows XP and it found the driver, but when I insert the memory card I get "Please insert a disk". Blue light is on, disk seems to be fitting properly. This just isn't working for me at all.

It t is actually an adapter that allows you to plug a memory card into a USB port. It does not have any other application.

I had this problem under Windows XP Pro, SP2. I downloaded the SDHC update from Microsoft and it still didn't work. I tried the other USB ports on my computer. I tried renaming the drive, as suggested on other troubleshooting websites.

The first response to this question, "just use it" is ridiculous. You CAN'T use it.

I tried the Dynex card reader in another computer that has an SDHC port and it didn't work.

I finally tried another brand of card reader and it works fine. The solution is to return it to the retailer and get your money back.

This message comes up quite a bit with SD cards, because they are not standard NTFS formatted. You do NOT want to alter the format of the card. Just disregard the message and everything should work as intended.

No, this reads SD cards, mini, micro, etc. I assume if you leave the SD card plugged into this adapter it would work as a thumb drive.

This is a very versatile flash drive. It can be what ever size you want it to be. You can use the following media cards SD, SDHC, SDXC and microSD formats. I use a 32GB SDHC card in mine mostly and this way I can transfer data from this device to the 32GB SDHC card in my PC card reader.

No, it is not a flash drive, thumb drive or whatever name they are given. It is only an adapter for SD and micro SD cards like are found in cameras.

This is a card reader, not a flash drive. You would need an SD or microSD to plug into the card reader. That card would determine the capacity.

Question

Message saying "please insert disk into removable drive F"

When I put the memory card reader (with the memory card property inserted in the reader) into a USB drive, my computer recognizes that it's there and everything appears to be working fine. When I click on the drive to view my pictures, it gives me a message that says "please insert disk into removable drive F" (F is the name of the drive when I insert it into the USB port). I'm a little confused, since the memory card is clearly in the reader...

It should work if that is indeed the correct drive. Check to see if F drive is there before you insert the adapter. Mine comes up as drive H, but the drive assignment is contingent on how many you have on your computer. Also check to make sure your SD card is in the correct orientation. The Micro SD card goes in upside down into the adapter. I always put the SD card into the adapter before plugging the adapter into the computer's USB slot.

When I use the memory card in the USB drive. It reads the photos and asks if i would like to import them into the Apple iPhoto app. No problem. Do you have another drive like D or E? The computer should read the converted disk images. I would replace it with in new one.

answer 3
Make sure that the memory card is fully inserted into the slot
Try a different memory card of the same type in the same slot. If the different memory card works, the original memory card should be replaced
Some cards have a read/write security switch. Make sure that the security switch is set to Write Enabled.
Make sure that the amount of data you attempted to store has not exceeded the capacity of the card
Inspect the ends of the memory cards for dirt/material closing the hole. Clean contacts with a lint-free cloth and small amounts of isopropyl alcohol
If errors persist, replace the memory card
Some memory cards are not compatible with XP such as SDXC. Refer to your card manufacturer to see if your card is compatible with your OS.

What direction does the card go into the reader?

It is a micro card, one side has a notch on it. Does that side go on the same side as what plugs into the USB?

Take a look at the direction of the data connections on the card (the little copper plates). Look for the data receivers in the device; the business end of the device. Make sure these are going to touch each other when you insert the card, and you will be good to go. It should only readily fit in in one direction. Do not force the card.

Question

memory card reader DX-cr112 instalation

I purchased the DX-CR112 memory card reader yesterday and plugged the reader into my MacBook pro laptop with the card in the required slot, but nothing is happening. The blue light on the device is illuminated, so I know I didn't put the disc in improperly. Again, no window pops up. Nothing that tells me to install the device or anything. Please assist!

No software should be needed. It works just like a flash drive does. a drive icon should show up on your desktop. if not, check how the card is formatted. you may need third party software for your mac if its formatted to NTFS or some other format that is not natively read by OS X.

This device is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 and greater. Since you have verified that the memory card is properly inserted, I recommend connecting the Reader to a different computer to verify that it is functioning properly.

It sounds like you need to update or install the same programs that you have on your PC at school. Next time you are at your school PC look to see what is running your videos or photos such as flash player or Quiktime. These programs are usually free for the basic program. Do a search on your home PC and once you locate them either upgrade or install them for the 1st time.I hope this helped.

It may be that the videos are a type that your home computer does not have a program that will run it. Such as QuickTime or ADHD file formats. Search the web for a free program to run it.

You do not have either the required codecs to play the videos back or you do not have the media player to play the videos. I would recommend VLC Media Player as it does not require any additional codecs and will play back any file.

That is not an issue with the card reader. It is something with your computer, possibly the default program you have set to open the file type. It might also be a driver issue with your computer.

You don't say what kind of card you are trying to read, so this is a guess. If you insert a memory card into the computer, and the computer does not recognize it as being there, that probably means the drive cannot read the card. In my case, my drive would read SD cards, but not SDHC cards; the Dynex card reader solved the problem. You could test this by seeing if your computer will read a plain SD card. If so, then try an SDHC card. The cards are normally labeled as to which kind they are. Anything over 2 GB will be an SDHC card. 2 GB cards can be either SD or SDHC, and should be labeled; cards less than 2 GB should be plain SD.

Ensure that a memory card is properly inserted in the Reader. If the problem persists, try using the Reader on a different computer to ensure that it is working properly.
