Thanks for the question!

The Bose ® 161™ Speakers are designed to be connected to a separate amplifier or stereo/home theater receiver. Therefore, they cannot be connected to our Wave Radio CD ® or Wave Music System ® products. This is also true of any of our passive (non-powered) speakers.

Thanks for the question!

The 161 speakers require an amplifier for power, so they cannot be connected directly to a TV. This is true of any passive speaker. However, you can certainly connect a TV’s audio output to an amplifier that is powering the 161 speakers.

Bose 161 is a passive speaker system, which means that these speakers need to be powered using a separate amplifier or receiver. You can connect your computer to most stereo or home theater receivers using a 3.5mm stereo male to dual RCA male audio cable. This cable would be plugged into the headphone jack of your computer and the other end would have a dual male RCA to fit on the back of the receiver.

Thank you for your question!

Hi! Thanks for the question.

The current versions of the Bose Wave Radio and Bose Wave Music System both feature a headphone jack. This is the only output connection available. It would be possible to connect an auxiliary set of powered speakers into this headphone jack; however, doing so will mute the speakers on the Bose system.

Be advised that the headphone jack on the Bose has a variable output, which means that you will need to adjust the volume using the remote from the Bose system itself.

The Bose Cinemate is only designed to work with the speakers that are included with that system. They are not compatible with another receiver. To use 161 speakers, you would need to purchase a separate receiver. But the 161 speakers could not be added as additional speakers to the same TV that is hooked up to the Cinemate system. Thanks for the question!

The Pioneer VSX-D412 has a power output of 100 Watt @ 8 ohm impedance. The Bose 161 speaker is compatible with a range of 10-100 Watts Per Channel at 4-8 Ohms. These speakers should be compatible and well suited to that receiver.

Thank you for the question!

Although it is possible to connect powered speakers to the headphone plug in the back of the Bose Wave Music System it is not advisable as this would mute the speakers on the radio itself. The Wave Music System provides high-performance audio so no additional speakers are necessary.
