Questions & Answers for HP - 15.6" Pavilion Laptop - 6GB Memory - 640GB Hard Drive - Dark Umber

Question

A few questions

1. I'm not very familiar with AMD processors. What Intel CPU would this be comparable to? (i3, i5, etc)
2. Is this PC suitable for use with Photoshp Extended (3D effects) and Autodesk's Maya (will it support all the display modes)?
3. Can I substitute a 9 cell battery? If so, what is the estimated battery life with a 9 cell battery?

1. You can compare it to the i5 line, but it usually is at a better price point. My brother has a comparable laptop loaded with an i5 that cost $150 more.

2. Not familiar with the specs on that software, I would contact Adobe.

3. You can get a 12-cell extended battery that will stick out from the bottom of the chassis. Expect ~2x the life depending on usage, as battery life varies quite a bit. For example: running high spec games I get less than 2 hours on the standard battery, whereas basic net surfing is more than double that time.

answer 2
The AMD Quad-Core A8-3520M Accelerated Processor is approximately equal to a high-end 1st generation Intel Core i7 processor in terms of speed and performance.

This PC meets or exceeds all of the recommended system requirements for Adobe Photoshop Extended and Autodesk Maya listed on the manufacturer’s websites, so it should have no issues running this software.

The HP MU09 9-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery is the correct 9-cell battery for this PC. On average, 9-cell Lithium-Ion batteries will last approximately three to four hours on a single charge. Unfortunately, exact battery run time and life span information is not available. Various factors, such as the temperature of the battery, the applications running on the notebook, any attached devices, the brightness of the display, and the notebook power management settings all determine the run time and life span of your battery. Also, the performance and charge times of Lithium-ion batteries decrease over time. There are suggested ways to help increase the run time and life span of your battery:

- Reduce the brightness of the screen to the minimum readable level
- Remove peripherals (External hard drives, CD-ROMs, Zip drives, PC cards, and other peripheral devices) when not in use; these devices can draw power from your battery even when they are not in active use
- Reduce the speed of your processor
- Turn off the Wireless On-Off button when it is not in use (If your notebook has one)

It's not an Intel processor, so it's none of the above. It's a high end AMD processor and the laptop has a Windows experience rating of 5.9. It's a quad core and fast.

I play WoW on this laptop and I have it on high settings (except for shadows, those I turn down to low because it REALLY helps) and I get 30 fps in crowded areas and 60 while out questing. It holds up really well for WoW. Definitely recommend it!

Yes. You have to do a lot of set-up in the beginning, but once thats done and you amp up the core's, no hacking needed, works great. I am playing both the old republic and Mass effect 3 with no problems. You will want an optical mouse by Razor or something similar though.

All I can say is overkill. You can be watching how to videos on YouTube, while hosting a server, playing game with highest settings, recording yourself, posting about it on FaceBook/Twitter, and Skyping, and you would still be able to do a lot more.
