The D3200 is an interchangeable lens camera. You can choose from a number of different lenses Nikon makes. Please check out the NIKKOR lenses on Best Buy's website that have the AF-S designator. Those are the ones that are 100% compatible with your camera.

The D3200 is packaged with an 18--55mm lens and is not available as the camera body only. The 18-200mm lens is sold separately from this kit.

Question

Filming

I am looking for a d-slr camera that will be an upgrade from my go-pro to film my friends snowboarding. Is there a place for a microphone? Will it auto-focus in video mode? I also want a camera that can take nice photos in the summer.

The major problem you're going to find with a dslr is your picture quality will be much higher (using the camera features) thus you'll fill your memory card way too quick. The Go-Pro line or Addixxion cameras will be best because they're designed for the sports. All have a microphone built in (as do the dslr's). Personally, I'd recommend a regular camera for your summertime pics and an action cam for winter sports.

The D3200 is comptaible with the ME-1 Stereo Microphone. The camera is may auto focus while shooting video however it is recommended to shoot in a manual focus.

Question

How quickly can you take pictures?

I'm wondering how quickly you can take pictures with this camera. I barrel racing this summer and am looking for a camera that can keep up with the runs and get some good action shots. Lots of actions shots in 25 seconds or less.

I would say it would work great! I am not a professional and took action shots of my kids sledding and they came out great. I even got shots of them upside down in the air and the snow flying!

The Frame Rate of the D3200 is 4 frames per second. Technically, you should be able to take up to 100 shots in 25 seconds

Get the Nikon3200 is great for beginners like myself. It is very easy to learn how to use, great resolution 24 megapixels and the camera itself has a bunch of cool features.

The D3200 is a great start! The D3200 has a guide mode to learn how use the camera. This also has the auto mode feature as well as manual settings to chose from. The next level to this DSLR line would be the D5200. Both cameras are very user friendly.

I have the full size Nikon D-100. This camera is more compact, yet still has that professional, full function 'feel' about it with good access to all controls

Not that I know of. You can take a picture while you are recording but the auto focus and shutter can be heard in the video on playback, so it's not a feature that you'd use often.

Yes, when playing back a movie on the D3200 you can pause the movie and save the paused frame as a JPEG still image.

The D3200 has a standard 1/4 in. tripod socket on the bottom of the camera. Any sturdy well built tripod will work fine.

The "made in" labels on the camera body and lens read Thailand, while mentioning on the camera body "Nikon Corp, Japan"

So I *think* they are made in Thailand.
