From the available inforamtion, the UN55EH6000 is not a Smart TV. If you are looking for a Samsung TV that offers the Smart TV feature, please take a look at the 2012 "ES" series.

6000 has a vastly inferior picture and no Ethernet connection for new directv HMC. Spend the extra for the 6100. I returned the 6000.

There are several differences between the EH6000 and ES6100:

1. Internet connectivity- The ES6100 will offer internet connected applications like the Smart Hub, Samsung Apps and the Web Browser. However, the EH6000 will not

2. AllShare- The ES6100 will offer AllShare, while the EH6000 will not

3. Contrast- The dynamic contrast ratio of the ES6100 is at 6,000,000:1, while the EH6000 is at 5,000,000:1

As a matter of fact, the UN55EH6000 and most of all of the other 55" Samsung TVs will have sound leveling. If you head into the TV’s menu, then under the “Sound” sub-menu, you will see “Auto Volume” in the "Speaker Settings" option. Clicking on this option will allow you to toggle the feature on or off.

Question

Conflicting Info on Full Array or Edge Lit

CNET lists this set as full array in one article and edge lit in their specs. There is also a Samsung article for 2012 TV's released in March that says the following:

"All of the EH models use a so-called full array LED mounting system, where LEDs are positioned all the way across the LCD panel back plane. This has traditionally been positioned by Samsung and others as a superior form LED technology. But Das said to reduce the price, the new sets use fewer LEDs than earlier full-array models (the company is not disclosing exactly how many LEDs or how many sectors of LEDs are employed)."

I then sent a email to Samsung with the same question and that response said edge lit with no local dimming. I then contacted Samsung though live chat and was told it has full array with local dimming. With all the conflicting responses along with the article that says full array, can you verify full array or edge lit?

I'm sorry for the delay in answering this question. I was researching the topic and making sure that I had accurate and correct inforamtion before answering. From what I have gathered, none of the 2012 Samsung LED TVs will offer Full Array LED Back Lighting with Local Dimming. However, although Full Array LED Back Lighting is not available, the ES6600 through ES7150 will offer Micro Dimming (the 2012 equivalent to Local Dimming), the ES7500 and ES7550 offers Micro Dimming Pro and the ES8000 offers Micro Dimming Ultimate (each feature offers a higher degree of dimming). None of the EH series TVs will offer Micro Dimming nor will they offer Full Array LED Back Lighting.

All UN, PN and LN units (North American Units) will only have support for NTSC/ATSC/QAM broadcasting systems and NA power systems. Since the NA TVs will not accept a PAL signal or Non-NA voltages, you will not only need a converter for the broadcast, but also for the power if you would like to use the TV in a PAL country. Unfortunately, I will not be able to recommend a specific converter since Samsung cannot offer support for products we do not manufacture.

Question

Can RCA component cables be used with this TV or must I have HDMI cables?

My receiver has RCA connections, not HDMI. The receiver is a DENON AVR-1707, circa 2006. I want to replace my existing TV but I do not want to replace the receiver. Is this possible? If this Samsung 55" Class LED TV does not accomodate RCA connections, can I use an RCA-to-HDMI adapter?

Thank you,

AL

Question

Is there a way to adjust the picture so that movies don't have a "soap opera" look to them?

Is there a feature (other than "cinema view) that allows a viewer to adjust the image so that you don't feel that you are watching live TV while viewing movies.

To adjust the Hyper Real look to your image, I would first suggest adjusting the Auto Motion Plus and LED Motion Plus options in your TV's menu. Settings are based on your personal preference, so unfortunately, I cannot provide any incite as to how to set up your TV. I can provide you with a list of what each setting does.

Auto Motion Plus Settings:
Off- Switches Auto Motion Plus off.
Clear- Provides high blur reduction, low judder reduction
Standard- Provides medium blur reductions, medium judder reduction
Smooth- Provides low blur reductions, high judder reduction.
Custom- Allows for customer user settings for blur and judder.
Demo- Displays the difference between Auto Motion Plus 120Hz on and off modes. The screen after applying “Auto Motion Plus” appears on the left.

LED Motion Plus is found under the following directions:
MENU → Picture → Advanced Settings → LED Motion Plus

Auto Motion Plus is found under the following directions:
MENU → Picture → Picture Options → Auto Motion Plus

If these options do not alleviate the issue, please contact Samsung Support.
