Answer to both questions is YES. The iPad requires no setup only that the printer be connected wirelessly to your home network. When I fax, I simply plug in the phone cord, put the documents in feeder, dial the number and press Start. There is a separate fax icon to set up and control faxing... easy to use.

No. Salesmen say this about a lot of printers. Some just want to sell more cartridges.

No, you do not have to replace the color cartridges when you replace the black ink cartridge. It is recommended that replace the color cartridges when they run out; however, if one or more of the color cartrtidge is depleted you can still print in grayscale using only the black ink cartridge.

As long as you have the HP Automatic Two-sided Printing Accessory (comes standard with the 6500A Plus printer) you can print on both sides of the paper. To do this using eprint (via an iPad) requires you to set the printer to always print duplex... something you may not always want. Printing via a PC, duplexing can be done thru the print software.

This model unfortunately doesn't make 2 sided copies. You need the 6700 model that supports this feature.

You just need wireless internet and the internet password. Click wireless on the printer after plugging in and it will automatically print out instructions as long as the ink and paper are in the printer.

Are you shipping one or ordering one? If you're shipping one, I suggest you go to the nearest Best Buy that has one in stock and measure it. The weight is printed on the box. Your other alternative is to order and have it shipped directly either thru Best Buy or Amazon both of which offer free shipping (most of the time).
