Hello,

The XPS 13 is an Ultrabook-class machine and therefore does not have room for a traditional CD/DVD internal drive. If you absolutely need to have the XPS 13 play/read a CD or DVD, I recommend hooking up an external optical drive to the USB port. Depending on what type of optical drive you purchase, you can read/write to CD, DVD or even Blu-Rays!

Hope this helps!

Technically that battery is not meant to be changed out. The battery is a heavy cycle batter that is suppose to be good for the average life of the device being three to five years for 1,000 to 1,500 charges without significantly affecting the ability to hold a near full charge.

Hello,

The Ultrabook class of notebooks do not have user-replaceable batteries. They are rated to last for a long time and many uses. Dell will cover one replacement of a failing battery within the original first year of warranty, for free. This process involves mailing the XPS 13 back to Dell's repair center and they will do the battery replacement there. You will need to contact Dell Technical Support to diagnose the battery and get the process in motion.

Hello,

The new XPS 13 is an Ultrabook-class machine and therefore has incredible battery life. Dell states the XPS 13 has a maximum battery life of 8 hours and 53 minutes. There are also many positive reviews of the XPS 13 on the Internet that go into further detail about its battery life.

Real life battery operating time varies, depending on operating conditions. Operating time is significantly reduced when you perform operations including, but not limited to, the following:

Using external DVD, DVD-R, and CD-RW drives
Using wireless communications devices, PC Card™ devices, or USB devices
Using high-brightness display settings, 3D screen savers, or other power-intensive programs such as 3D games
Running the computer in maximum performance mode
