No. The reason this is, is because of the screen. The screen on this model is not 3D capable. The Graphics chip however, is. So if you plan on doing any 3D gaming/work, you'd have to replace this with a 3D capable screen which i'm positive will void your warranty.

While the notebook does uses a typical SATA connector, finding a blu-ray drive that will fit in the bay is not an easy task. You could only use the blu-ray drive that came with another G75 and swap it over. If you really want a blu-ray drive, I suggest getting an external drive.

answer 2
The Blu-Ray drive is a typical SATA drive for most laptops. You will just have to find the model number of a Blu-Ray drive that comes in other G75 models and find it that way. Or if you find a compatible drive, all you'd have to do is switch the face of the driver to make it flush with your laptop.

Unavailable might just mean at your local area store or geographical area. They could be waiting on Shipment to restock, sometimes it is discontinued as will no longer stock but may give you another Vendor listed on the Best Buy website as it will be purchased Online Orders Only such as from Buy.com (not affiliated with Best Buy).
As you know Quantity of Items is dependent on Contract Orders. Once order have been fulfilled the next ship could be cancelled due to lack of Sales or not enough revenue to acquire another shipment purchase.
The "AVAILABILITY " issue is Unknown.
If you're unable to wait, find another Reseller/ Retail Store via web searches.

Question

Store availability and shipping

The ad says not available for shipping to any store in Colorado. I wonder how you can get it if you can not order it online and pick it up at the store ? So now I am really thinking that Best Buy is not a place that wants me to purchase from them.

You can pick up from the Best Buy Store once you place your Purchase. You are usually given a Choice ..Deliver to Store for Pickup or to be Sent to your Residence / place of Business.
Meaning PAY FIRST as there will not be in store display of the product.
Also the Store will not be responsible for the damage , if damaged you'll have to send to manufacturer for repairs. Certain Banks or Credit Card Companies will cover damage merchandise or may even stop /reverse payment. Always best to have the Product Checked Out for Operational and Visual Inspection before leaving the store with it.
You can refuse acceptance of delivery if damaged therefore Best Buy has to return and you have the right to request a full refund.

You will have to buy the laptop and use the "Ship-To-Store" option. It should work fine, if you have more issues. Please contact BestBuy or go to a local bestbuy and i'm sure they will be more than happy to help you.

Question

Is the hard drive worth upgrading?

Being that its 5400rpm isnt that slow? Is it worth spending another 100-200 for a 7200rpm hard drive or a 240GB SSD for 250$?

Size-wise, the hard drive is pretty big for a notebook. Depending on what you're looking for, It's really up to you if you want to upgrade. SSDs are definitely getting popular, and you will see a noticeable difference.

The SSD is worth it, another HDD wouldn't give you much of an improvement. 5400RPM is starting to show it's age.

you should definitely concider buying an extra SSD for system drive and leave the 1TB/5400 drive for multimedia and other non-system data.
when choosing a SSD, concider your budget but I wouldn't recomment less than 120GB for this laptop.

There is an open, unused drive bay. You could definitely improve performance by putting an SSD in the extra bay.

No, the notebook does not have NVIDIA Optimus technology. However, there is a key at the top next to the power key where you can change the notebook's profiles with a touch of a button.

Question

Another RAM Question

I just had another question concerning the RAM. I want to expand it to 16gb. Since it has 8 and says those are 2x 4gb sticks, I'm assuming I would have to buy another 2x 4 gb sticks. So does the bay have another two slots for RAM? I haven't been able to find any 8gb sticks for laptops, only desktops.

The G75VW has 4 slots. 2 under the keyboard, and 2 that is user-accessible. For this particular model, the 2 slots under the keyboard are taken up by the 8GB that comes with it. Adding RAM via the user-accessible slots will not void your warranty.

answer 3
This laptop does have 4 RAM DIMM SLOTS, but only two are accessible that will not void your warranty. Which are on the base of your laptop, simply unscrew the screws, remove the cover and there will be two dimms. The other two dimms that are empty are underneath the keyboard and will void your warranty if you decide to open up your laptop to go inside and add in more ram.

This is a big downfall for the G75.
