Question

Is a light supposed to be on, when the TV is on?

when the tv is turned off there is a red light at the bottom right corner. Is there supposed to be another light on in the same location when the tv is turned on. Also, the menu options for the first time use always come up every time i turn the tv on.

Yes, the light is supposed to be out when watching and on when tv is off (on standby). I know that's kind of weird/backwards but no big deal.

It is my guess that you did not select something (English, Home Use etc.) when you first turned it on to hook it up. Check those items and you shouldn't see that pop up anymore.

On the remote, there is a button marked ccd. This is for turning closed caption off and on. There does not appear to be a cc option in the menu. Hope this helps.

If your receiver has component connection ports, you may connect it to your TV by that means. If your receiver is composite only, a converter to component or HDMI will be required to connect.

Try this: power-cycle your TV by turning it off and unplugging it for at least one hour to reset the hardware. If the problem persists afterward, your TV will likely require repairs due to hardware problems. Service can be obtained by carrying your TV in to the place of purchase.

Try adjusting the video output settings on your Telus box to "widescreen" or "16:9." This will send a natively compatible signal to your TV that should resolve the aspect ratio issue you have encountered.
