Hello,

This Inspiron 15R is pretty powerful with its AMD Quad-Core A8 processor and Radeon HD 6470M graphic controller. This system should handle most games with ease and even more intense games if you adjust the graphics settings to maintain a good framerate.
Now if you want top of the line gaming, you are going to want to get a laptop with a discrete video card like the Radeon HD 7570 or the like. These newer cards are much better at handling intense gaming and giving high framerates as well. Look for this option in the Dell XPS and Alienware lines.
In the end, look at the minimum and recommended requirements for the games you intend on playing and see how this system compares. I recommend checking out this video card on Notebook Check's website to see real life gaming performance, on a variety of laptops. Tom's Hardware has a handy graphic card ranking chart, which will help you determine if the system you want has a video card that beats the minimum card requirements for the games you want to play.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

Yes, this Inspiron 15R (M5110) exceeds the minimum requirements to play Grand Theft Auto 4. To determine how well it will play the game, I would check out the publisher's forums and see what other players are discussing about their computer hardware and performance.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in the Inspiron 15R! It looks like the AMD Trinity line of processors will use a new socket type (FS2) and that will not be compatible with the existing socket on these laptop's motherboards.

Hope this helps!

Dells are only popular because the cheap ones are cheap. ASUS and Toshiba have better reliability and durability. Plus Toshiba is way cheaper. Look into L850s. you can get one with an A10 processor for under $600.

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in Dell Inspiron laptops! I would say that this system would be great for college work and light gaming. If you want to get into more serious gaming on a laptop, I would recommend systems with a discrete video card, like the Inspiron 15R Special Edition or XPS 15. That said, check out our latest Inspiron 15R ( Model: I15R-2108SLV, SKU: 5619907), which comes with a 3rd Gen Intel i5 processor and Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics as another option. This system is slightly faster in benchmarking that the Inspiron 15R that you posted this under.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

I do not see any official numbers on the battery life of this Inspiron 15R (M511R). I would assume that it is similar to other Inspiron 15R (N5110) laptops and has a maximum time possible of around 7 hours. Real life battery operating time varies, depending on operating conditions. Operating time is significantly reduced when you perform operations including, but not limited to, the following:

Using DVD, DVD-R, and CD-RW drives
Using wireless communications devices, PC Card™ devices, or USB devices
Using high-brightness display settings, 3D screen savers, or other power-intensive programs such as 3D games
Running the computer in maximum performance mode

It should handle those games adequately on medium settings. Don't expect fantastic quality graphics out of a laptop without dedicated video.

Hello,

This Inspiron 15R is pretty powerful with its Quad-Core AMD A8 processor and dedicated Radeon HD 6470m graphics. This system should handle most games like World of Warcraft fine and even more intense games if you adjust the graphics settings to maintain a good framerate.

Now if you want top of the line gaming, you are going to want to get a laptop with a discrete video card like a GeForce GT 640M or the like. answer 2
Hello,

The short answer is yes, it can burn CDs. According to the product description:

"Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support
Records up to 8.5GB of data or 4 hours of video using compatible DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL media"

This basically means that the optical drive in this laptop can do everything to DVDs and CDs yet it cannot read/write to Blu-Ray discs.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

This is a wonderful question! This Inspiron 15R (M5110) does feature some TouchPad gestures, like vertical and horizontal scrolling. Vertical scrolling is enabled by using two fingers up and down on the touchpad, to start the scrolling. Tapping on the touchpad will stop the scroll. You can read more about the other TouchPad features on page 34 of the laptop's setup guide:

Hello,

Minecraft is a great game in the fact that it does not require high end hardware to play it. It plays within Java and this laptop exceeds the minimum requirements to play it. Naturally, depending on the map size and graphic detail, you might have to adjust some settings to get optimal framerates.
Here is a handy link of many different hardware configs and their respective framerates:
