Question

S3 AND S4 Won't Play on my Samsung 55" HDMI TV

The package says it is compatible with S3 and S4, and I am using the 11 pin Samsung adapter but no signal will show on the TV from either my S3 or my S4 and the USB power adapter is also plugged in.
In one of your answers you mention screen mirroring but that is for a wireless connection to newer Samsung TVs or to the Allcast dongle so it doesn't apply and S3 doesn't have mirroring anyway.

You may need to go into your phone display settings and enable Video out, or Screen Mirroring.

Question

Static screen

If the connections actually work and let me mirror my phone to the TV, then majority of the time there is static screen either all over the screen or half the screen. I've had this cable for approximately 5 months and it's only worked one time out of numerous tries. How can this be fixed? Also, I did the HDMI reset

You may want to take this to the Geek Squad desk with your receipt, and they can connect it in store. If there is a bad connection, they should be able to swap it out under manufacturer warranty.

Well sometimes you got to find the one that's compatible with your cell phone you might want to ask at the store before you purchase the product.

Per the Android Forums, "The RAZR has a dedicated HDMI port and does not use MHL. You need a micro HDMI to HDMI cable."

Typically, when it doesn't work out is because the user is connecting the HDMI & the phone to the adapter but not connecting the adapter to the charging adapter as well. It has to be plugged into the wall to work.

Once you connect the equipment, and connect the phone charger to the adapter, see if you can select the HDMI port on the tv input list. Once that is done in the samsung menu you will want to activate the Samsung MHL service, which may be under the name Anynet, or Screen Mirroring.

When you change the tv to the correct input, you then want to start a video on the phone, like youtube or netflix, and see if the phone needs particular types of media to send out over MHL.

I’m going to recommend an HDMI reset. To do this, unplug the TV and shut down your phone. Disconnect the HDMI cable and the adapter from both ends and then reconnect them. TTurn your phone on. Once it has rebooted, plug in the TV.

Also make sure that your phone is set up to send the signal using the allshare cast app or screen sharing.

Question

Full Screen Does not Display on TV

Hello,

I have tried this product on both a Galaxy s4 and a Note II with two different TV's to get a full screen of the phone on the TV's. However, on several attempts I see some of the image but not all of it. This is important as I am trying to use the adapter to run presentations and i would say the corners are being truncated on the big screen. I have tried two adapters at Bestbuy, one actually worked for a bit then it would disconnect the other connection was great but the screen truncated. Thanks in Advance.

Have you tried taking your adapter, your two phones to Best Buy and having an associate try them on a tv in house?

I have the same adapter and a galaxy S4 and works ok for me.

The cable in no way controls the resolution or picture size. Those functions are controlled by the TV and the phone and tablet. I would start with the TV and then move to the settings on the phone. On the TV, make sure it supports 1080p, that the aspect ratio is set to normal, and that overscan is turned off. As far as the phone goes, I really don't know which settings to change on it. That would be something to contact Samsung and ask.

Question

Why does signal to tv go on and off?

I was watching a movie from my Samsung Note II on my TV, there were moments during the movie when the signal was lost and the movie was paused. I had to get up and press play on my phone and the movie would play and TV would receive signal. I like the product but would like to see why this is happening before I return to store?

The cable is likely not the issue in this case. If the video is pausing on your phone, then most likely that is what is causing the whole thing to freeze. Since this is just a cable, there should be no reason why it would be causing you phone to pause the movie.
