It starts out taking on a smaller amount of water to wash, but if it unbalances in any way, it uses a magnificent amount of water to rebalance. My water bill has doubled, compared to the front loader that I had. It washes great, but the point of having an HE top loader is to save money on water. This isn't doing that for me. Will be going back to a front loader when this is paid off.

answer 2
That depends on the size of the load, but they both have very good WF (Water Factors).
These two LG models are very similar:

WT1101C* // 2.56 MEF // 3.82 WF // CEE Tier 3
WT4870C* // 2.58 MEF // 3.76 WF // CEE Tier 3

• MEF=Modified Energy Factor, a combination of Energy Factor and Remaining Moisture Content. MEF measures energy consumption of the total laundry cycle (washing and drying). It indicates how many cubic feet of laundry can be washed and dried with one kWh of electricity; the higher the number, the greater the efficiency.
• WF=Water Factor (number of gallons needed for each cubic foot of laundry). A lower number indicates lower consumption and more efficient use of water.
• Although all models on the CEE list are very efficient, the tiers are structured so the most efficient products are listed in the higher tiers. For example, Tier 3 would contain the most efficient models.*

answer 2
Yes, regular cleaning of the tub on a monthly basis using TUB CLEAN will keep the tub clean and fresh.
- When you use liquid chlorine bleach, load it into the liquid chlorine bleach compartment.
- When you use a powdered cleaner, pull out the liquid detergent cup and add it into the main wash detergent compartment.
- When you use cleaning tablets, place them directly into the washer tub. (Do not add tablet cleaner to the drawer.)

As it turns out, black is not available, the closest may be LG's Graphite Steel color:

I have a king size comforter and while I do not think its still 2" think (mine is older and lost some of its puff) I do think the washer would handle it. There's a cycle for " heavy bedding" or something like that. I do notice that the comforter tends to ball up in the dryer and doesn't quite get the inside of the ball fully dry. I just pull it out and adjust it and dry again. I don't think any dryer is gonna fully dry that comforter in one shot but it still beats taking to the laundromat to use the industrial size machine!

answer 2
This model does have a "Bulky/Bedding" cycle for items such as pillows, comforters and other articles which have difficultly absorbing water. ONLY WASH SMALL LOADS to make sure there is plenty of room for the load to move during washing. Keep like items together; do not mix large bulky items with smaller clothing items.

Question

Washer shakes when it spins?

My washer is level and on cement flooring but shakes when it spins mostly during mid-cycle. Loads have not been unbalanced and it doesn't shake near the end of spin cycle when water had drained out. Has anyone else noticed this with this washer and is it normal for there to be some shaking? Thanks!

Mine does not shake at all. Take care loading, I was told load as even as possible around outside - I try to use keeping that center point visible as a guide.

A little shaking maybe normal. If the unit is completely level and your load of laundry is even, this shouldn't happen much. Please contact our Geek Squad at 800-GeekSquad if you feel like you want a technician to take a look at your machine.

This washer is low profile and a drawer would be a nice addition although the drum is very deep and may cause some people with shorter arms and legs may want something to give them a slight lift.

You do not NEED a tray for any washer (unless its mandated in your apartment building or something) a tray is just insurance incase the machine leaks. So you just need to weigh out whether the cost of a tray is more than the threat of a leak. If your looking at a brand new machine the likelihood of a leak is very low unless you get a defective machine from the factory. (I havent heard sny reviews about this unit having defectice parts)Also if your machine is on a second floor and and a leak would damage rooms below that's a factor to consider. (My machine is in the basement and a leak would wreck anything)
Hope this helps.
