The model number you stated is not a current Samsung model. The replacement water filter for Samsung's new 2010 French Door and Side by Side models is part #DA29-00020B. Samsung French Door and Side by Side models produced from about 2007-2009 use DA29-0003B (Best Buy's item #7015981). I would suggest calling 888-BEST BUY for assistance determining which filter is compatible with your model.

The DA29-00003B water filter (also identified as Best Buy's SKU #7015981) is the correct replacement filter for Samsung's side by side refrigerator model RS2530BSH, as well as most other Samsung refrigerators produced between 2007 and 2010. The water filter in this model is located behind the middle shelves in the refrigerator compartment.

Question

I Can't remove the water filter from my Samsung Side-by-side fridge.

My fridge is about a year old and the filter light just changed to purple. I bought a replacement filter, but I can't remove the old filter. Turning the filter left, in the "unlocked" direction, the filter turns about 20 degrees and stops. Even when I apply a lot of torque, the entire housing flexes like it is going to break but the filter won't budge. Jiggling, pushing up and pulling down as I turn have no effect. Should it turn that hard? Is it possible the first filter was mis-installed at delivery? Recommendation?

You should not be having such difficulty to change the filter. Further manipulation could damage the housing. Please call a technician to check it out for you at 1-888-BESTBUY.

I hope this answers your Question.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty installing your new filter. It's true that the DA29-00003B and DA29-00003G are comparable models, and should both be able to fit in the same Samsung refrigerator filter housings. Did you try turning the water valve off, which might help reduce the pressure in your water lines and enable reinstallation? If this does not help, I would suggest you contact 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who may be able to walk you through other troubleshooting suggestions.

While it is not necessary to turn off the water supply to the refrigerator in order to replace the filter, doing so may help alleviate the pressure if you find it difficult to remove the old filter or install the new one.

A pink filter light indicates that you're about a month away from needing to change the filter. The light usually turns pink at about 5 months, and red at about 6 months.

Thanks for the questions!
