According to a copy of the State of California Department of Heath Water Treatment Device Certificate issued in July 2009 that is included in the replacement filter materials, these are the same thing -- the DA97 is the trademark/model designation, and the DA29 is the replacement element.

DA29-00003G is a replacement water filter cartridge which is compatible with many refrigerators that use the DA97-06317A water filter housing, but these are not the same product. I hope this answers your question. If you're trying to determine whether this filter cartridge is compatible with your particular refrigerator, I would suggest resubmitting the question with your refrigerator's model number.

What replacement filter is needed for Model: RF26XAERS? I have the Samsung French door RF26X Series. Also, the ice maker only dispenses crushed ice. The light under cubed ice will not even turn on. What can be done to fix this?

Thanks for the questions. The RF26XAERS uses the HAF-CU1 filter (Best Buy SKU #7015981).

Regarding the ice, it isn't unusual for a small amount of crushed ice to dispense even if cubed is selected, especially if crushed had been selected previously. When changing the selection, please make sure the control panel isn't locked, since this would prevent you from being able to change the ice type. If either of these issues persist, I would suggest calling 888-BEST BUY or 800-SAMSUNG to speak to an agent who can help determine whether service will be necessary.

I did not have to turn off the water supply. I just simply twisted the filter off and snapped the new on into place. Not a single drop of water came out when I switched them out.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the question. It is usually not necessary to turn off the water supply when changing the filter in Samsung refrigerators, though doing so may make it easier to remove the old cartridge or install the new one since it can alleviate the pressure in the lines.

Thanks for the question. Best Buy's DA29-0003B (SKU#7015981) is a comparable alternative to the DA29-00003G and is compatible with the same models of Samsung refrigerators. For additional information and availability, please contact your local Best Buy store or call 888-BEST BUY to speak with a Customer Service Agent.

I searched online for alternatives to the $50 Samsung water filter and found a reliable replacement. It was $19.95 for 1, $24.95 for 2, and $29.95 for 3. No typos, those were the honered prices.

There is only one filter for the internal water filter on the Sam,sung French Door refrigerator.. That filter works great. Wait until the warning light turns red before replacing the filter, It turns dark pink before it turns red.

Go to the Samsung site if you don't have your manual. I did this and it was fairly easy to navigate the site and find the information.

Question

Ice machine not working.

My ice maker sporadically works on my Samsung RSG257aars. My wife states that this could be because the filter needs to be replaced. The symbol on the digital screen is blue indicating the filter is ok and the water comes out fine. The powerfreeze is off, and the ice off switch is off. Any suggestions? A new ice maker, filter, or repair call?
Thanks

Based on your question I am assuming that making the ice is not the problem; that the problem is with dispensing the ice. When you pull out the ice tray I assume there's ice in it. If the ice is old it can freeze together in large clumps that may be difficult for the dispenser to push through. You can always break it up and/or dump it out and start with a fresh batch. When you press the ice button, if the dispenser sounds like it is trying to dispense ice this might be the problem. Also try holding the button longer to see if the dispenser puts out anything. It could take several seconds before the ice starts coming out.

If the dispenser doesn't make any noise then your issues sounds like it will take a service call. First also check to make sure the child lock is not activated. You can do that through the button interface on the front of the fridge. Look in the manual for your model to see how to turn that on and off. Even if the filter is old it should not impact the ability to make ice.

I'm sorry to hear your icemaker isn't working consistently. There are a number of possible explanations, including the possibility that the filter needs to be changed despite the light being blue. Samsung filters are designed to last about 6 months based on average water consumption. However, if your household uses a lot of water, or the water has a high level of impurities, then it may need to be changed sooner.

Following are some of the other possible causes/solutions:
- Air pockets in the water lines can affect ice production. When the filter is initially installed or replaced, be sure to dispense up to 6 gallons of water to bleed air from the lines.
- The recommended temperatures for the refrigerator and freezer compartments are 38°F and -4°F, respectively. If the freezer temperature is set higher than this, it could slow ice production. If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is something pressing against the lever that detects when the ice bin is full? The icemaker will not produce ice if it detects a full bin.
- Have you tried pressing the Test button on the side of the icemaker to reset it?
- Is your home's water pressure sufficient? In order for the ice maker to operate properly, water pressure of 20~125 psi is required. Under normal conditions, a 6 oz glass can be filled in about 10 seconds. If the Refrigerator is installed in an area with low water pressure (below 20psi), you may be able to install a booster pump to compensate for the low pressure.
- The Power Freeze feature can help increase ice production by running the compressor for an extended period of time.

I hope these suggestions help to increase your ice production.
