Sony A mount cameras (A55, 57, 65, 77) are all compatible with the older Minolta SLR lenses. Sony bought Minolta and kept the lens mount the same.

where can I purchase a 55-300mm lense compatible with the sony NEX 3?
I am considering purchasing the NEX but I am concerned so far I only see it has a 55mm lense and the wide angle lense, are other lenses only available if you buy an adapter mount? Will Sony be coming out with other packages for the NEX that include the 55-200 or 300 lenses?

This SAL-75300 lens will fit and function with your NEX-3 camera with purchase of the LA-EA1 mount adapter.
By using the LA-EA1 mount adapter, A-mount lenses made for α (alpha) Digital SLR cameras can be connected and used with the NEX cameras.
IMPORTANT: The Sony® teleconverter lenses (SAL-14TC and SAL-20TC) are not compatible with the mount adapter.
This link at Esupport will give the list showing most alpha lenses will work with the adapter
