Unfortunately, there's no easy solution for removing scratches from stainless steel, especially if the scratch is deep enough to change the contour of the surface. I would suggest polishing the unit with stainless cleaner, or try a little baby oil. To apply the baby oil, add a very small amount to a soft, lint-free cloth and rub into the stainless surface thoroughly. This will not only clean the stainless but will also help to resist fingerprints, though there's really no way to know if it will help conceal the scratches until you try; hopefully this will help. Using abrasive pads or cleaners to clean the stainless steel finish is not recommended.

Yes, the drawers can be opened when the door is open 90-degrees. However, in order to remove the drawers entirely, the doors would need to be fully opened.

Unlike the old days, the new ones need little or no clearance. Ours fits very closely to the walls on all three sides as well as the top and it's not an issue according to the installers.

Samsung recommends leaving at least 1" on top, 3/8" in the rear, and 1/4" on each side of the RSG257AARS to allow for sufficient airflow and efficient cooling. The front edge of the refrigerator case should not be recessed into the cabinet enclosure to help ensure that the doors can swing open freely.

To adjust the temperature on your RSG257AARS, press the Fridge or Freezer button repeatedly until the desired temperature is displayed. This set temperature should remain until you change it again. To lock the controls to prevent them from being changed inadvertently, press and hold the Ice Off button for at least 3 seconds. Once locked, the padlock icon will be illuminated on the display.

If the internal temperatures change so they vary significantly from the set temperature - which can happen if the doors are left open or if warm food is added - the displayed temperatures will blink, and the cooling system will turn on or off as needed until they return to the set temperature.

The RSG257AARS measures 35-3/4" wide by 68-5/8" high without the hinges (69-7/8" with hinges) by 23-5/8" deep without the doors. The depth with the doors is 27-1/4", and 30" with the handles.

I would have my water tested. If you replaced the ice and tried again the only thing left to do is test your water.

I'm sorry to hear your water and ice taste funny. Dispensing at least 5-6 gallons of water after installing the filter - and each time it's replaced - should help to flush the system removing residual odors and flavors, as well as air pockets, from the lines. Ultimately, the taste should dissipate over time.

Currently I am having a new home built and I believe the opening for the fridge is 36 inches which i am pretty certain wont work being the right side is against a wall. What are the needed dimensions if while looking at it the counter is on the left and a wall is on the right?

I hope this explanation makes sense. Although the front of the fridge is 35 5/8 if the wall you are putting it against is more than counter depth (about 25") it requires additional 2" on that wall side otherwise opening the door will hit the wall (ask me how I know..and have a scratched front on it). If your wall depth is 25" or less-opening the doors should clear it. Ours is against a 27" wall depth so we have to keep it about 2" from that wall to keep the door from hitting that wall. If the wall was 2 inches shorter in depth the doors should clear it. It does not matter which side, right or left is against a wall-if the wall is more than counter depth the doors still require space to open unless your wall is shorter than the depth of the fridge less the doors (without the doors ours sits 25" from the back wall.

Thanks for the question. Samsung recommends leaving at least 1/4" on each side of the 35-3/4" wide RSG257 to allow sufficient air flow and ease of installation. However, if one side is opening into a wall, you'll need at least 3-3/4" on that side in order to open the refrigerator door 90-degrees. While this will provide normal access to the bins and shelves, limiting the door swing will hamper your ability to remove the bins and shelves for cleaning or repositioning. Please refer to the attached illustration, taken from page 8 of the user manual, for various measurements that will help you determine the ideal location and clearance for your fridge. The manual can also be downloaded as a pdf file from Samsung's website.

Question

Why are there different height w/ hinges. 69 3/16" and 69 7/18

According to Mr. Samsung and some other sites, the height is 69 7/18. However, according to Samsung and BBuy, it's 69 3/16. What's the actual height with hinges?

The slight variations in height measurement of the RSG257AARS and other models is due to the fact that the front legs are adjustable for leveling. It's likely the measurements you're seeing are actually in the 16ths (69-3/16") or 8ths of an inch (69-7/8") which actually only vary by about 1/2". The height in your home will depend on how level your floor is so how much you'll need to adjust the height of the front legs. Please keep in mind that Samsung recommends leaving about 1" clearance on the top to allow for sufficient air flow as well as room for leveling.
