Questions & Answers for LG 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave - White

Question

Opening size?

We have 12" deep cupboard above and to the right side of of our existing microwave opening. On the left side there is zero clearance to the wall. the opening is 30" Our current microwave has a door that does not extend beyond the width of the microwave. Is the door on this microwave similar or does it require additional clearance? Is the 12" depth sufficient to mount the microwave?

Question

is it possible to replace the door?

364 days after I bought this microwave (give or take a few days) I started seeing some hairline cracks above and below the door handle. Attempted to contact LG and they said I am out of luck because warranty was up. Now I am about a year and a half in and those hairline cracks are so big that I am going to have to either replace the door or replace the whole microwave. Reading online I see that this is incredibly common on this model. What kind of cost am I looking at?

Question

requirements

I have a cupboard over my stove. Is this installed directly to the cupboard? The cupboard is only 13 inches, is this large enough? Is it secure once installed, any chance of damage to the cupboard and the microwave falling?

The microwave is installed on a metal frame that is attached to the wall, and then fastened to the cabinet above the stove. There needs to be about 16 inches below the cabinet bottom for the microwave to fit. We have a cabinet and tile, so we had to be sure that the metal frame would fit into the gap between the cabinet bottom and the top of the tile backsplash. It fit perfectly.

The dimensions of this microwave are (WxHxD)
29 15/16" x 16 7/16" x 15 5/8"

It appears that if your cabinet depth is ony 13 inches deep, this might not be your best option. The microwaves are installed specifically to be secured above the range.
