The 500 series are not the same, the different models, ie mine is Pavilion 500-054, have different hardware specs. Mine has 1.5TB hard drive. The additional bays are PCI-Express bays, not SATA slots. The only expansions for PCI are a moderate video card and some other PCI things, but everything has already evolved from PCI to USB such as wireless adapters.

This has a total of two bays, which are occupied by a hard drive and an optical drive. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

More than likely, but check out the video requirements for the game because this PC has built-in video which draws from the processor. I placed my own video card in it though, so I can play Sims 3, Diablo 3, StarCraft 2, SimCity 5, and other current games.

This PC will play any games that have system requirements equal to or less than the specifications of this PC. I recommend contacting the software manufacturer of any games you intend to use in order to determine the system requirements for their software.

Depends. If it is a true analog telephonic signal jack, then the HP Pavillion 500 has no dial-up modem or drivers on board to handle that type of network connection. However, if you have upgraded to a High Speed internet connection through your internet provider, then they may have routed high speed cables to where your originally installed phone jacks were, thus creating an ethernet connection for you to connect a wi-fi or computer to.

Question

Can you add an Nvidia GTX 660 video card to this model?

I'm thinking about getting this tower and adding a video card. The Nvidia 660 requires at least a 450 watt power supply and one 6-pin PCI Express connector or two available hard disk connections. These features aren't listed in the PC's spec list so I would appreciate any compatibility info you can give me. Thank you!

Hi. I did the same thing. I had a gtx460 which requires TWO connectors. The PCI is there!! Most computers have 300w standard. You can find specs by googling hp 500-054. The below is the only info HP provides...

Internal 300W (100V-240V)
•Form factor: Internal ATX
•Total wattage: 300W
•Nominal input voltage range: 200-240V/3A (50-60Hz)
•Dimensions: 150mm x 140mm x 86mm (5.9 x 5.5 x 3.4 inches)

You will NEED a power supply and swap it out.

You can add the card but this unit has a 300 watt power supply. I asked that myself so be aware you may want to upgrade the power supply if you plan on using as a game system. The 300W PS is ok for standard computing, but will need an upgrade for anything more.

Question

Upgrade-able to run Battlefield 4?

This computer is topped at my short budget to-get-list and I was wondering if the hardware, graphic cards, processors, and ect can be upgraded to run battlefield 4 at maybe an average rate. I would like this to run it at it's optimum though that may seem a bit far fetched. Thank you and any other tips will be appreciated.

I have not played BF4 but this computer STOCK will not. The onboard video was not even doing well for me with Path of Exile. What you need: Video card, then a power supply to handle that. Most PCs only come with 300w and decent cards want 450W or more.

You'll be able to upgrade down the line with this tower, but as is Battlefield 4 will not run on medium settings. Maybe low.

I bought it thinking I could put my old drive in, but it does not have an extra bay, and they don't offer a kit to do it. I was able to connect my new drive, but only long enough to copy the files from it.
