Questions & Answers for Insignia™ - 2.0 Stereo Computer Speaker System (2-Piece) - Black

Question

Can I use these for a PC whose internal speakers are non-functional, or at least presently not recognized by the system?

I have a relatively old Windows Vista HP laptop whose speakers have a tendency to work on and off, with the left being seemingly permanently broken. At any rate, now neither works, & as far as I know, they may never work. The message that I get when I have hover over the Taskbar icon for sound is, “No Audio Output Device is installed.” Headphones don't work, either—any headphones. Now, if I buy these, am I going to get sound?

I would say no, because of the fact you do not get sound out of the headphone jack either. Does your laptop have a separate audio out option? If not, then no, these will not work.

As another way to try to get sound, have you checked the Dell website for any driver updates, or have you reinstalled the drivers? That might help.

answer 3
Unfortunately no. Odds are your laptop is having a sound card issue since it was randomly working in the past but now nothing at all. On a laptop, these would most likely be plugged into the headphone jack but since that isn't working either these won't be a solution for you. A new sound card is what is needed here, honestly a new laptop would do the trick all around... But first I would try to uninstall then reinstall the drivers for the sound card before anything. Should be under device manager in the control panel. It's been a while since I worked with Vista. If that doesn't work, open up the base of the laptop and make sure all your connections are good. Something may have simply come loose. Good luck and hope this helps..

No. It sounds like your sound card is shot. You can try reinstalling the audio device driver as it might be a software problem, but more than likely it's hardware.

I doubt it. If headphones don't work, then these probably won't. They use the headphone jack, which seems to be a problem with your computer. (Sounds like you may have a sound card problem.)

answer 9
If no audio output device is being found on your computer, these speakers will probably not be the fix. It sounds like you may have a hardware issue with your sound card, or perhaps the drivers just need to be reinstalled. These speakers would plug into the headphone jack of your computer, so if headphones aren't working, then speakers wouldn't work either. Check the hardware profile of your computer in control panal to see if there are issues indicated relating to your sound or media card.

Speakers do not connect to USB. There is a line going to a power supply which plugs in to a 110 volt outlet. There is another line which plugs into a round outlet in the computer. Outlet is about 1/8 inch or less.

These speakers are not like the usual USB speakers, they are separately powered. Just plug your headphones into the jack under the blue light and it should work with no problems. If it doesn't, its either the headphones or the speakers are defective. If you have access to another set of headphones you can check it out that way. You do not have to unplug the speakers from the computer.

Unfortunately, these speakers are not usb powered. They have to be plugged into an audio-out port on the pc. It should be the round green plugin on the back of the tower at the bottom of the i/o panel. However, they can be plugged into a headphone jack as well as that is also an audio-out port.
