Since the HP SimpleSave 1 TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive is only a storage device, PCs on the network will not be able to "see" this drive connected to the router. You would need to connect the drive directly to a PC and share it over the network.

HP SimpleSave External Hard Drives should be compatible with any PC running Windows 7, Vista, or XP with an open USB port.

However, since Hewlett-Packard does not test or support third-party products we cannot guarantee compatibility with an eMachine PC.

This particular hard drive is an external drive, so it's not meant to be installed into a desktop computer. Instead, it connects to your computer via an external USB 2.0 cable.

To browse our selection of internal desktop hard drives, I'd encourage you to check out the following link:

While the specifications state that this hard drive is compatible with Windows XP, Vista or 7, I have found that any USB 2.0 external hard drive will connect to my iMac. Please note that you may need to reformat the hard drive before using it. However, if you want a drive that is specifically designed to work with your Mac out of the box, try the one below.

The included backup software is only compatible with Windows 7, Vista, or XP. However, you can still use other backup software to save data to this external hard drive.

Most products sold on BestBuy.com and in our retail stores are primarily intended for use within the United States, so factory warranty coverage may not be available for this product in India. To be certain though I would encourage you to contact HP directly for additional warranty information.
