Varies by device and use. Choose your video quality. Take one minute of video. Look at the file size. Now how many of these 1 minute files can you fit onto an 8GB card in your particular format and camera/device. Simple math. All ratings are estimates but this will tell you for YOUR device and use.

This is megabytes per second - this is how fast the card can save photos. To see what kind of speed you need, take some sample pictures with your camera and see how big the file sizes are - if you shoot raw, the pictures will be ~20Megabytes each, if you shoot .jpegs they will be around 5-7Megabytes each. So, a card that can write only 10Mb/s will take 2 seconds to save a raw image - thats a while between shots!

This is the amount of DATA that can be transfered every second. MegaBytes per second. The higher the rating the faster you can shoot pictures or take video. It also makes it faster to transfer say...to your computer if the card is rated faster.

Yes it is complatible, this camera uses SD cards, and it supports SDHC cards (high capacity) which the 8GB card you selected is. You chose a high speed card which will help you save images faster to shoot quicker.

This depends on your camera, but most new cameras are around 14 megapixels which means ~4Mb/picture. An 8GB card will hold ~2000 pictures from a 14 megapixel camera.

Check to see what type of SD card your camera can accept some will not accept the higher class cards. If it does i would head to my computer do a format and try it again. If still no luck take it back to best buy swap it out for another.

We have not conducted an internal test that will confirm the compatibility of the Extreme HD Video SDHC 8GB card with the Canon SD1400IS camera. However, the most definitive way to confirm compatibility is by getting a hold of the camera manufacturer.

It pretty much depends on the camera settings like the resolution and megapixel. You may contact your camera manufacturer regarding the hours of video recordings per memory cards capacity.

I'm getting about 24 minutes shooting in 1080p so I'd guess close to a half an hour or a little over.

The actual recording length will be based on the video's compression/quality setting and type of subject being captured. You can confirm with the camera manufacturer.
