Samsung's refrigerators, including the RS267TD, are designed to show the actual temperature. When the temperature is first selected, the set temperature will be displayed for several seconds. The display will then switch to the actual temperature reading until it reaches the set temperature. The display is not designed to remain illuminated indefinitely, but will turn back on when the refrigerator or freezer buttons are pressed.

Question

How much space is required around this fridge to install. Only 35 3/4 or does it need more? My space is barely 36 so not much wiggle room.

Samsung recommends leaving at least 2" on each side, as well as 2" above and behind, the RS263 refrigerator to allow sufficient air flow for the cooling system to work properly and most efficiently.

Thank you for the question. The key differences between the RS263TDRS and the RS265TDRS are in the location of the icemaker and the design of the display panel. The former features a compact icemaker located inside the freezer compartment and a "bar-type" control panel; the latter has an in-door icemaker and premium LED display. In addition, the freezer lighting is slightly different; the RS265TDRS features Tower LED lighting in the freezer while the RS263TDRS has standard LED lighting in that compartment. Both models feature LED lighting in the refrigerator, through the door cubed or crushed ice and water, as well as Samsung's signature Twin Cooling system to help keep food fresh longer. Both are also part of the line-up that has earned Samsung the JD Power & Associates Overall Customer Satisfaction Award for Refrigerators for six straight years (2005-2010).

Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately, the RS263 is not available in the Stainless Platinum finish at this time. I would suggest contacting 888-BEST BUY or your local Best Buy appliance team for assistance determining whether other colors will become available in the future.

Question

Does this refrigerator have manual restart

We have a samsung refrigerator right now that when the power goes out you have to manually restart it yourself by holding down 2 of the controls at the same time and you have to hold them for quite a while. We are renting our home out and have already had an issue with the tenants that are in our home. I am sure anyone can see how this would be an issue ecspecially if you are out of town etc... we are looking to replace it but I am not sure how to tell if any of these refrigerators are the same way. We definately don't want to replace it with something that you have to maually restart. Does anyone know if there is a specific code or specification that would tell me if a refrigerator has to be reset this way or not? Thank you!

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your refrigerator. Power outages are sometimes accompanied by surges that can effect the refrigerator's controls, such as causing the activation of "Demo mode", which may be what you're describing. If you live in an area that is subject to frequent power outages, I would suggest contacting your local electrician or your power company for advice on protecting the electronics in your home, including the appliances, from power surges.

Question

Sputtering/hissing noise from back panel in refrigerator side?

This afternoon I noticed an odd noise that seemed to come from the panel behind the drawers in the fridge side of the unit. It sounded like an occasional sputter/hiss. The fridge was still quite cold however and I didn't see anything obviously wrong. Do you have any idea what the noise may have been? Should I be concerned?

Thanks!

The bubbling or sputtering sound you're hearing is normal, and is caused by refrigerant gas moving through the pipes in your refrigerator as it cools. As long as the fridge and freezer continue to cool properly, there's no reason for concern.

Thanks for the question. You can remove all of the shelves and bins to thoroughly clean the refrigerator. However, if something has spilled into areas not easily accessible by removing the the shelves and bins, then Samsung recommends having a service technician assist you. If you feel it's necessary to access the sealed areas behind the refrigerator, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you in determining the available options.
